Well i woke up to a lovely surprise this morning!

got my first period since having alex :( its been over a year as i'm bfeeding and i had kinda got used to not having them!

just wondered when everyone started using tampons again?
do you think its ok to use them straight away or should i wait till next month? i know alot of people dont use them 1st time but then as its been almost five months since alex was born i thought i might be ok.

i really hate pads but dont want to irritate things if you are not supposed to use them for a bit.

any advice welcome!

thanks x

oh how weird Iv just woken to the same this morning !
hey and we both live in west sussex! Its the souths time of the month :)

Im well chuffed i finally have a period !
(never thought id be so happy to have period pains!)
Iv been waiting months & really felt that my body had not recovered properly.

Im not sure also, im using pads at the mo but imagine its fine to use tampons

i started my af 8 months after having ewan and bf'ing. i tried tampons but they never felt comfotrable. so my hubby(!!) bought me a mooncup.. and i am converted!! wont be using tampons again - mooncup is a surgical grade silicone cup that you insert, it colocts the blod and you empty it, saves a fotune on tampons!! if you look at janey-lee grace's book or forum she taves about them

thanks for replies!

Must be something in the water round here Duds! where are you in w.sussex? i live in partridge green just south of horsham.

Cant believe you were pleased to get yours  that was one bit of my pre preggy body i was happy not to regain

i think i got mine as i went back to work last week part time so have been feeding much less :(

Wow Hypnorm that sounds cool. might have to look into that as would be way cheaper and greener too. Can you believe we pay vat on tampons - wheres the bl**dy luxury there?
thats my main concern that they wont be comfy anymore :?

Thanks for the links hun

will see how i go with tampons as i never had trouble before but you never know after what our bits go through! but that sounds like a really good idea if they are uncomfy, just need to steel myself to try it  - i hate knew things , fancy being funny about stuff like that after going through labour and internals etc

midwife told me with my first period to use a pad then the following periods i can use tampons.....

any way what are periods lol

iv had 1 in 2yrs

only had one after Dior then preg again

i wasn't keen on the idea of them at all - but i tried after huby threatened to put it in for me!! and after the initial fiddle it felt fine. just takes a while to get used to putting in and taking out.!!

since having children tampons have never felt the same feel a bit uncomfortable, but my HV said its normal

Dionne, good idea but i think dh would have a fit if i said i wanted another baby to avoid a period  perhaps i better just put up with it! although i already look forward to the next one just not ready yet - i think you are so amazing looking after dior when you were preg and now having two babes to take care of - somedays i can only just cope with one!

xx

cheers hun,to be honest i wish i had of thought a bit harder about how hard it would be :wall:

dont regret it thou,we are getting in a routine,
its just when Dior is in a mood cause she wants atension and starts messing the house throwing things and having tantrums but harleys screaming as he wants his bottle

days like that when i realy do feel like doing a runner :moon:

cant imagine another one creating havoc while alex is going into one

well you seem to cope brilliantly :D

replied to your queston re the baby carrier by the way!

I know im a bit weird to be enjoying a period! Actually I forgot how horrid they are! I got tummy ache !!!!!

I think Dionne is amazing how she copes with 2 little ones & spends time on here & she has done her house up really funky too

I got mine this morning too! I have a little embarrassing question though...what colour is normal for menstrual fluid? Mine seems quite dark (brown or black) this month and I hope it doesn't mean I have an infection or anything.

Sue

Hi Sue - must have been the day for periods yesterday!!

i often used to start mine with a browny colour which then changed to red in the first few hours. and sometimes the red is really dark almost black i guess - dont know if thats what you mean :? ? we need a colour chart so we know whats normal
the discriptions they gave for the beeding after birth were always a bit off for me but it all seemed fine when i saw midwife etc

if it changes to red i would think its fine and maybe just a bit of old blood left over form your post birth bleed? check with docs if unsure r if it carries on?

by the way i gave in and just used a tampon - seems fine so far! :D really pleased as i was worried if it was uncomfy that i'd never be able to use them again.

sorry but im gonna seem a bit thick here,

right i bled for 3 weeks after having Colby and on sunday morning woke up with terrible cramp and that evening i started bleeding. just been reading some of your posts and some of you havent had this for a wee while after the babies have been born. Colbys now 8 weeks so is this normal to have a period so soon? *it is really painfull but not very heavy*

Thanx girls xx

are you breast feeding hun?

they say if you do then it can take a long time for it to come back.
think mine came back as i went back to work last week so doing a lot less feeding.

its perfectly normal to get it that quick if you arent bfeeding though. and if you are then i think its less common but can still happen. they only say you MAY not get your period while feeding.

wow you were lucky to only bleed for 3 weeks, mine was about 7! hated that bit

if you are worried i'd mention to hv or docs maybe?

hope that made a little sense!

Hi

Since most of us got our recently after so long well how long would our firsat periods last roughly since most of us are breastfeeding and its so late, anyone know? im just curious when i can get ride of it lol.
And when would you get yoru next one, roughly a month or does it take longer since we havent had it for so long.
Katrina

im not breastfeeding hun, i guess thats why its come so quick.
The cramp is terrible though just had to take 2 pain killers and got a hot water bottle on me tum at the mo. Hopefully it wont last to long as before having colby it would only last 4 days but im due to start taking the pill again onsunday but only till i get my appointment through to get the coil fitted as they couldnt fit it at the family planning clinic so have to go into hospital.

Thanx for the advice hun :D
xx
