I've now hit the 12 week stage!!! yipeee... and having my scan tuesday..
I work onboard a ship living on for a week, on the wednesday i will be back on for the week, and am wondering if it's a good idea and safet for me to mention to the managers that i am pregnant, as this week just gone, i found the 13 hour shifts tough and there's a lot of physical work involved, lifting and standing and being on my feet for 13 hours. It would really help if i could have short breaks and as little amount of lifting as possible.
When i ask my OH who also works, he says to leave it for a bit and makes out that im being slightly over dramatic like im the only person to ever be pregnant and that i keep moaning about differnt symptoms.. which is upsetting..
I do have a little bump but not enough for OH to believe i should be complaining with comments like "you're not 8 months yet you know!" and "oh god, nikkie, you're the only person so ever have a baby!" it's putting me off telling work as they might think i'm doing it to get attention and it's unneccessary to tell them until i'm massive or DILATING!!.. lol... :( any suggestions on when people told work? x

what a meanie! why dont men understnd how much we are changing! its tiring!

he thinks it's jus fun winding me up, but doesn't realise that it's making me feel like im not allowed to be pregnant... i can't wait for people to find out so i can talk to more people about it and have people ask me questions and show interest instead of only talking to him.... Maybe other people will show excitement and smiles... :(

Hun if I was you I would tell them, better to be safe than sorry. Also if, God forbid, theres an emergency on board they will fully understand when you rugby tackle people out of the way to get to the lifeboats xxxxxxxxxxxx

lol... suppose u could br right.. they're offering redundancies at the mo though and am scared about the state of the company!!

Our company's dying on its feet but it would whether I was pregnant or not, will just have to wait and see xxxxxxx

they cant discriminate agains you for saying plus you should have a risk assesment done.

saying that im 19 week on Monday and still not told my work lol im hiding a bump behind my desk when at work

you should tell them, without a doubt! 13 hr days are too long for you right now, its you and baby that are important. It could be worse... I started a new job and 3 weeks later found out i was 7 wks pregnant! plus i have just been signed off for a week...... i doubt my probation period will be passed! oh well if in 7 months i am holding a little bundle of joy... who cares!

xx

Cazzlou, how do they not know..... Not to be rude, and of course you don't have to answer this, but why have you not told them. (as you can tell I am a nosey neighbour, he he)

Lol I've not told them as we are going through a big restructure and had to apply for our own jobs. They are reducing the staff by 67. We were supposed to be told if we have a Job on the 21st sept and my 20 week scan is on 23rd but they've moved job dates to 3rd oct so guessing I'll have to tell them soon as I am getting bigger now.

i would definatly tell them, i lift and things at work and do 10 hours shifts. Last year when i was pregnant i didnt tell them and my pregnancy ended in a misscarriage, they where shocked when i rung in sick and told them why. im pretty close to my manager now, so i told her as soon as this time and she put me on light duties and i did my health and safety risk assesment earlier to x
