Hi guys

i had the scan and the little one was moving around, even had its hands clasped....anc kicked feet, it was amazing !

but....they put me at 13.5 weeks and then they took loads of pics but only gave me one and filed the other ones. I don't know why they did this.

I then went to see the consultant who asked about blood tests for downs and turner, I am not able to get a nuchal in this hospital.

The head seemed too big according to midwive, i know i cant be 13.5 as my dates don't match and i know when we conceived.

Is it worth paying for a nuchal fold scan private or am i being paranoid and worried. Sorry to be such a worry wort, i was soo excited until they whipped most the pics away.

aww hun  glad you saw bean today!
Its not so great about that you've been left worried though. Did you see your midwife or one at the hospital?

If it was me I would talk to my midwife tommorow about what the sonographer has said and what your options are. Is the head being large to do with nuchal though? I thought it was the just the fluid at the back of the neck? If you really wanted the nuchal thenId push to get it at a hospital near you hun just for piece of mind. Chances are baby is absolutely perfectly fine. Keep us updated.

I had a scan at 8 weeks and got put back 3 days then i had another at 12 weeks and got put forward 3 days (i think thats right) anyway i guess what im trying to say is if you are sure of your dates and theres not weeks difference i would trust yourself. Babies grow at different rates and they grow so quickly its probaly nothing to worry about. I agree with Tillytots and have a chat to your midwife.

hmm that is a bit odd hun
maybe ask the midwife what she ment
have you got your white notes? you should have a slip in there that says what happened and what was said at the scan
maybe read that and speak to some-one about it
manda xx

I agree with Manda, speak to your midwife tomorrow. don't sit at hom eworrying it's probably nothing to worry about at all

Maybe the sonographer was trying to justify your early move to Tri 2? :rotfl:

On a serious note, I am sorry to hear about the photos - that does seem rather odd, and it's weird they didn't try to put your mind at rest while you were there, how rubbish of them! From what you are saying though the baby looks really healthy so try not to worry!!!

If it's any consolation I have a massive head which is totally out of proportion with my body, and they told my mum there was something wrong with me when I was born because of it (!) ... often these things are something and nothing.

I am rooting for you anyway. Mention it to your GP / midwife and let us know what they say xxx

hi guys

thanks so much for your reassuring words guys, means alot.

well, i spoke to my neighbour who is 20 odd weeks pregnant and she said that i should have had procedure talked through with my midwive and she was left confused and had her pics whipped away too, this helped alot, I will get the blood test for downs next week and if i feel necessary then will look into a nuchal one.
I have pic on my phone but don't know how to get it on computer, i need to dig about and find cord.
thanks again guys

Afaik the nuchal is done between 11 weeks and 13 - 6 only. They take bloods then also to go along with this. If you are not sure you've been dated correctly you can also be dated during a Nuchal (its what I had done) But be aware as I said there is only a few week window for a Nuchal. Outside of that I really don't know if its done. Everything I've read and doctors I've spoken to wanted me scanned within this time frame. Before or after seemed to not be any good.

And re the pics. I think its normal to only be given one or two. I only got given one and the others that were taken to be put in the medical file. Makes sense tbh as they need to be able to have something to look at should they need to refer back for any reason.

Good luck :)

Congrats on getting your scan and seeing your LO. Exciting stuff but sorry you feel worried about it :( If I was you I'd do what the other ladies suggest and get onto your midwife to explain what the sonographer meant and ask what the next step for you is and whether there's anything to be concerned about. Hopefully nothing

Yah 13.5 weeks rocks! You go girl or should I say you go mamma!!!

Yah!!!
