Went to the midwife at 9:30am this morning before me and Harrison went out for the day, and i to my surprise it was another new one, it turns out that the original midwife is on long term sickness and from now on i'll be seeing this one, but ive been told that before and its always someone new....... Anyway she was lovely.

I have been to the docs about my bad back and the feeling of having SPD (which is getting worse) i was told by physio that the doc referred my too that they could do nothing whilst i was pregnant so the doc told me to take codiene phosphate (sp) which my mum being a nurse told me not too.
Cut it short sara.......lol, The midwife told me the doc and physio were both out of order she also told me that if i did start taking these tablets that the baby would have to be monitered 24-48hours after birth to see if he had withdrawel effects fromt he drug OMG. Im so glad i have just had paracetemal.
She has now booked me in at a physio clinic for pregnant women, which should help me with the pain. :cheer:

Harrison also got to listen to his brothers heart beat, to which he shouted out "mummy you must have ate to many E numbers because he's going crackers"....... made everyone laugh.
So on a good note, fingers crossed physio helps me out now.

Awww, how sweet!! :D

I'm surprised how often we hear stories of pregnant ladies/children being given advice or prescriptions which would often have a negative effect!

Hi

Glad you have a nice M/W despite the crap advice. My M/W is scary. I have to see on Tuesday and will get another lecturer on Breast feeding
dreading it

I didn't see the same midwife each time until about 30 weeks as it should always be the same person who measures your fundal height.

Glad all the one's you've seen have been nice though

Nonsense!!!! What a waste of your time if they weren't going to even make an effort to help you
I was referred to a general physio instead of the maternity ones so that I could be seen more quickly. True, she did call the maternity physio for advice but she was very able to help me - she gave me exercises to do. I then only had to pop in past the maternity physio to collect a support belt (my midwife had already given me a giant tubigrip to wear from hip to top of bump). I've been back since and she has given me crutches.

This is the leaflet that I was given - I hope it helps until someone competent helps you

Heat is really good - a warm bath or those roll things you put in the microwave packed round the sore bits.

Make sure you never overdo it. In my experience it has not been like other things - if you overdo it you have to rest for a few days to get better - if you overdo things there tends to be little improvement. It took me 40 minutes using crutches to walk home from the midwife on Wednesday. The midwife is usually less than a 5 minute walk.

Take good care of yourself.

sounds like you have a lovely midwife! i dont really like mine. good job you didnt take any codiene! jeeze you would have thought they would have told you the risks!

make sure you let us know how the physio goes xx
