OK so this won't mean anything to any of you but we've had some good news today :D

We've been told we don't need planning permission for our kitchen extension. Basically this will save such a load of time and money we're really chuffed! Waiting for permission would have added weeks onto the time, now we can just start digging the foundations :D

We have a small kitchen at the moment but when the new one is done we'll have a breakfast bar and everything! I want a window made out of glass blocks between the worktop and the overhead cupboards too...I'm really excited!

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Great news Urchy - make sure you post some before and after pics!

yeah and the pictures alone can cost like £400!

Oh yay, huge kitchens are great, mine's about 24 foot long I'd be so lost without the space etc in there, extensions are great, are you going to have an Island and so forth too? you'll have to post pics, I love kitchens!!

Probably not an island, we have a big window now from the lounge into the garden. This will become where the breakfast bar is, so you'll be able to sit in thte kitchen looking into the lounge. It's hard to describe
The extension is gonna be 3m x 4m so probably not quite enough room for an island, but I'd rather have the space anyway. At the moment I've got about 7 cupboards, after the extension I'll have about 25!! What am I going to put in them?!? I can't wait to get the glass fronted ones with the lights inside too. This is exciting!

I know what you mean, the kitchen we had has never been extended, just built that way. The actual units it came with though were pathetic, one big larder cupboard we used for cereals and tins etc and then 2 single wall units (plates, cups etc) and 4 double cupboards under the counters. In such a huge space you would think they could have put some thought into the design. It was so great to rip it all out and have MFI come re-fit the new one....the difference in space and feel is amazing. Your going to love the new space.....and don't worry about what's going in the extra cupboards you'll soon worry about what you done without them!! xx
