Ok...stupid selfish rant post coming up...!

Went out for a big family meal tonight. Been on my feet a lot today (cleaning, putting cot together, shopping). By the time we got to the restaurant I was in quite a lot of back/hip pain. I had a really good night, but when saying goodbye my mum says "Are you ok? You don't seem HAPPY happy".

Erm..what?!?! It really got to me. For some reason throughout my whole pregnancy mum seems to think I've been moody when I should be on top of the world the whole time! Hasn't she heard of pregnancy hormones??

Might sound trivial, but just that little comment really got to me :-(

:hugs: people can be insensitive sometimes, just try and ignore comments like that, x

Mums have an amazing way of conveying concern with the most inappropriate words sometimes, you'll be doing it soon enough lol. Bless her my mum has managed to put her foot in it one way or another every time I've seen her since being pregnant. I think it's the transition from daughterhood to motherhood hormones that do it xxxxxxxx

oh hun my mum and nan have done this everytime I see them. My nan proceeded to tell me how big I had got recently last week. Not once but 5 times!! When I said yes thanks nan thats cos I'm pregnant she then told me another 5 times she thought I was having triplets I was so big!!! After spending nearly an hour trying to find a outfit that was fit to be seen by someone other than just my son, OH and the neighbours that made me feel great!!!!!!!! lol

Thanks ladies xxx

I think the daughterhood/motherhood transition could def have something to do with ut. Even hubby has commented how she always seems to find something to pick on!

Don't get me wrong, mum and I are so so close, but that's prob why it gets to me more I guess!

In the cold light of day I do feel better though. Tiredness and hormones do funny things - as I'm guessing we all know! ;-)

A couple of years ago I asked my mum, after an exchange of words, exactly how old she thought I was.....she said 6 . She said that you never view your kids as adults because when they are sobbing their hearts out or worried about something they are still little munchkins with a scraped knee or a broken toy. I admired her honesty tbh, none of us will really enjoy watching our babies growing up and becoming independent of us because mummys don't want that, we will all want our LO's to stay our LO's and they will......or I'll handcuff him to the radiator :D
