hi all,
when do newborns loose the umbilical cord stump?
and does it go a bit minging before it drops off???

paris was about 8 days old when hers fell off and yes it does go a bit minging but not real bad x

C was about 7 days. It just srivelled up and went a bit yellow, but never smelt or anything. The midwife cheched it everytime she came so no need to worry about it.

Ryan was about 7 or 8 days I think... it came off by accident as Ryan knocked OH's hand when he was being changed and it knocked it off. It was a bit gunky and yellow and weepy for a bit but before it dropped off it sort of went hard and dark.

day 10 the MW helped it come off!!

it was smelling so bad and was just hanging on and knocking on everything

About 5 days with Imogen, but it kept getting caight on her nappy. Just clean it noon and night with warm water and cotton wool and it shoulnt go minging

I sprinkled talc on both of my ones when they got rank and gunky (only place I've ever used talc on them lol).

About 5 or 6 days with mine. Never went icky, just hard and black then fell off at night while he was sleeping, found it in his nappy in the morning!

Bled a bit before it came off when we knocked it by accident.

Adam's fell off on day 4 during his bath. It did smell a little on the 3rd day but MW said it was normal and that it would be ready to fall off anyday. x It was such a relief when it came off as I thought it looked nasty and hated changing nappies with it on.

its finally off! !!!!!!!midwife cut it because it was dangling in so glad as it was smelly and made me cringe touching it incase i hurt him, thanks for replies!

A good wipe with a surgical swab usually helps them off

Thank gods fir that...Lil miss' has gone all ganky too... we have to clean it with an alcohol solution here so it doesn't smell... but I can't remember Tia's going ganky...serena still has the clip on hers...
