When to open presents

Sorry if this sounds really presumptious but I'm finishing work (Primary school teacher) on Friday and some of the kids have let slip that they have gor some baby presents for me

Is it unlucky/poor etiquette to open these early and do I save them risking upsetting the excited kiddies
OR
do I tear into them (which is what I really want to do) and shower the kids with compliments and sweeties???

I think you should open them in front of the kiddies, they will be so excited to see your reaction

I was given a lot of gifts when I left work to go on maternity leave, which I opened when they gave them to me.

Same here. Though my last official day there was a power cut and the school was shut. All my poor emotional little kiddies turned up at the door in tears begging to say goodbye to me anyway!

awww open them in front of the kiddies, if it was anyone else ie friends/relatives i'd say good etiquette would be to wait, but i was a TA last year and i know how much the kids love seeing you open the prezzies they give you

I opened all my baby pressies when I was given them! I don't think it's bad luck or bad etiquette, how can you know what to buy if you don't know what people have bought you?

I think for most people, I know I do, when I give presents I like to see peoples faces. You miss out on that if you're not there.

THanks guys..... spent most of yesterday pm with lots of little hands on my tummy trying to field off such questions as
' how do you know when u r pregnant?' so I feel like the class have 'lived ' the last bit with me.

Ive opened everything ive been given when i got it, id def open the kids present infront of them, they will love seeing your face

Definately open them straightaway, although if I were you I would probably burst into tears at every present It made me go all bubbly eyed just reading this post - what lovely kiddies
