when does a midwife start checking your cervix for favourability? Is it only when you are going overdue ? or when you think you're in labour?

My MW (who is my homebirth MW also) won't prod. She is a great beliver in leaving it alone and LO gets here when they get here. If I run really overdue she might check but otherwise she does not really worry.

with James I only got examined when in labour, he was two weeks early though. They might check sooner if you go overdue

I was never prodded with Sean and he was two weeks overdue, however my midwife was male so I'm glad he didn't go poking around down there!

i have been checked at the hospital twice but only as i was there due to lack of movement at 35 wks and bad pain at 39 wks. i know that my m/w does not check, i have to go hospital on tue (if not had baby by then) so will let u know if they check but i think its when either u have a problem or over due.
