My friend was cut and she said it took her about 6 weeks to stop hurting really badly x x

Aww babe, sorry you feel so rough. Try calendula cream onyour pads, feels wonderful and arnica tablets are wonderful for swelling and bruising xx

Arnica tablets are supposed to aid healing and bruising x

thanks demba is buying me some arnica tablets today i hope that helps :) soon im on my own n i want to be able to look after noa properly

Relax and give it time chick. Giving birth is a big task for your body and you will feel it for a little while yet. I was cut having my first and it took ages to get better but it became manageable after a couple of weeks. I ended up with an infection tho so make sure you keep the are as clean and dry as possible. It's difficult when your bleeding like. Take care chick xx

after a couple of weeks it gets easier!!!! i'm on crutches and have to go up and down stairs on my bum and that was quite painful for a while but isn't as bad now!!!!

amyjayne77 - Can you buy that calendula cream over the counter?

It does get better, the stitches usually get a bit tight as the skin starts to heal together so it can feel really uncomfortable. I think the bruising and swelling can be the worst part though. Are you taking any painkillers? I was given paracetamol and diclofenac which helps with the pain and swelling, and fine to take when breastfeeding. I kept going with them for a good 10 days, really wasn't going to stop early and put up with pain!

My friend said salt water baths helped her along with arnica tablets, and the arnica cream, hope you feel better soon hun x

I was cut too but also got a tear :wall2: It took a good 6 weeks for me to be generally pain free, but was able to get around pretty much as normal after about a week. It's still not completely sorted though, even now if I wear anything too tight or do too much walking I end up aching - not a pain as such, more a dull tightness that really doesn't feel very nice - it does get better though I promise :)

Pain-relief wise I took paracetamol and codeine - both were prescribed by the hospital before I left. I also use took Arnica tablets which helped. I saw in Morrisons the other day that you could buy a gel pad to go in the freezer then go in your knickers to cool everything down and help with swelling - I didn't know you could get them at the time so never used one but it might be worth a try? im so glad ive just found this thread evelina. Only been 4 days and i can't bare it. My OH is having to do everything. I feel so uselss at the moment. I think my stitches may have tore. Im just keeping them clean as poss and ill ask midwife what to do on monday. Does anyone else know what i can do?

DONT use arnica on broken skin, its posinous, but arnica tablets are fine

what saved me was distilled witch hazel on sanitary towels, chilled in the freezer... for the first week that was the only way i could do a wee, i tore right up my labia, and right back towards me arse

soooo sore to wee, it was almost more painful than giving birth :(

Took a while but it did heal...
