LO is still head up. He's sort of diagonal and has been for weeks now. His head is under my right rib cage, his back goes down the right of my bump and down across the top of my pelvis with his bottom above my left hip. All kicking movements are on my left rib cage.

He has been measuring big (2 weeks ahead). At my 4D scan (30+2) he was measuring 4lb1oz, so if he has put on half a pound a week since then, he's already going to be over 6lb. So he must be running out of room, surely???

I'm just wondering what's the latest they can turn to be head down??

mine was measuring to my weeks and didn't turn till 35... so even if your measuring 2 weeks bigger (32) there should still be enough room for LO to turn... Mine was in the same position as yours - side on.. sort of head up and bum down... i was on her one sunday morning when my bump started moving quite a lot... i brought tears to my eyes it hurt so much... felt like it was going to break thou my belly button... i knew something had happened i felt a little sick... then on the wednesday my MW said the baby had turned and gone straight into the engaged positio - 2 weeks later the head had dropped right down to 4/5..

so i wouldn't worry too much i think your LO will still have plenty of room to move...

I'm not at all worried Hayley, in fact I'm sorta hoping he doesn't move. My SPD is getting so bad I could hardly move yesterday, and I've had to wait until DH came home from work this morning to help me out of bed! He's had to wash my hair in the bathroom sink for me because I couldn't stand that long in the shower!!

I'm really really worried about trying to push a baby out of such a painful place and would happily settle for a c section. I have been having nightmares about the pain. I don't know if I would be able to have an elective one, so was kinda hoping he stays breech so they have to do one. Does that make sense?

I've not got another midwife appointment until 37 weeks so I can't even discuss my fears with her.

3 weeks without an appointment  surely in your condition they should be seeing you weekly. I would recommend just going anyway and discussing it with them. They can maybe get you an app with the consultant and get you booked in for a csection. I honestly cant see you having to give birth vaginaly. If you can hardly walk then you arent fit to labour. Dont let them give you any s**t.

But it might be out your hands anyway, i cant see your baby moving enough to work its way down, especially if its a big un. I totally undertand where you are coming from.

How is sil's hand btw.

Ella was head down at 29 weeks, but I'm sure they can turn anytime up until the week before delivery.

I think that if they are still breech don't they try and turn the baby manually for you?

That's what I thought, but I saw her 2 weeks ago and she said she didn't need to see me for another 5 weeks! You don't like to question them because they should knwo what they are doing. I think I may try and get in this week to put my mind at rest.

SIL is going in to have her hand assessed today, thanks for asking Laura.

Tankett - At the end of the day it is your decision how you give birth so if ou want a section push for it. They try and talk people out of them but you cannot be refused if that's what you want and you have a very good reason why you want it! :D

I used to think that but now I just think they read out a textbook and dont actually listen. Mines is a bit off with me this time as I ask more questions. I was reading back my notes and she put me in a having nil odema last week and I made a point of telling her how sore and swollen my hands were.

I asked about fenugreek for helping the milk come in and she says thats rubbish, there no proof it works.

I just dont trust them to tell you the right story.

I don't think it's right to not see you for 5 weeks.. my MW saw me every 2 weeks from 30 till 36 then it was every week... do you see your MW at your GP's? call the reception and find out when she is next working.. and book yourself an appointment with her....

As the others have said you should be able to choose your labour. If you want a c section (and i think you have a good reason for wanting one) then you should be allowed...

I know what you mean about not questioning the MW.. i'm the same. Can you take your husband with you. I took my mum for support to my last one! and she really spoke up for me...

Have they said your SPD will go when you have the baby? if thats the case they should really try booking you in around 37 weeks.. thats full term - and your suffering far too much...

Let us know how you get on, if you decide to make an appoointment with your MW.

That's definately a recommended method that I've heard of, your MW sounds like a biatch! Have you read www.kellymom.com about fenugreek? Some info on there :D I know Jo (Hillybilly) used it and said she was a 'veritable dairy' afterwards (though did smell of maple syrup).

all mine were head down by your stage. But im sure with second and subsequent babies they might not turn till the last minute. i suppose it depends also in the amount of room they have in the womb. All mine were pretty large babies so they had to get into position early

I was awake half the night worrying about the labour again as I'm in agony at the minute. :(

So I've just phoned the gp's surgery and booked an appointment to see the mw at 2.30 tomorrow. I'm going to beg for a section, I can't take this pain much more now, never mind trying to labour with it as well.

Hayley, my physio is adamant the pain will go when the baby is born, even to the point of telling me that DH can pop down to that department to bring my crutches back while I am in labour as I won't need them afterwards! But Yvonne had Jack 6 months ago, and she still gets the pain, so I'll have to wait and see.

Hi Tankett, good be firm and tell them what yoú want.

My friend has SPD and now her baby is a month old and she is still suffering. They do actually advise all new Mums to be careful after the birth because the ligaments and bones can stay relaxed for a few months. My doc told me that I should probably leave running for a few a months after the birth.

my eldest two went head down at around 32 weeks lily was breeched at 36 weeks, then was transverse at 37 at 38 weeks she decided to do a complete turn and be transverse the opposite way to what she was then 2 days later she went head down.lil bugger, still a little figit bum now at 2 years

Tanket,
Be positive when you go, dont let them think they are doing you a favour but also dont panic. When I was in labour and got an epidural the pain vanished. Would you be able to go for some relaxation techniques, you sound as though you are getting more and more distressed.

Kina,
I know what you mean about the midwife. I just dont have any faith in what they tell me anymore. She was giving me mega grief about not taking my iron tablets and it went up on its own with a little help from 2 litres of orange juice a day.

Hi Tankett
Sorry to hear you're having so much discomfort! I hope your MW listens to you when you see her... she sounds a bit uncaring - she is also ill informed as a HV or MW! I took fenugreek with Oscar and it's amazing. Weleda does a lactation tea with contains it and it's great - something worth looking out for!!

With regards to babies turning... my first turned at 34, my second at 33 and my third at 37.5. My MW assured me that many second/third babies can often turn at the last minute before labour!
Anyway - sounds like you've got your heart set on a section. I hope you get it and recover quickly. I admire you for opting for it - I just couldn't do it.... I just closed my eyes and pushed for Africa! :rotfl:

Hope you're ok!
Emilia xx

dont want to alarm you,but my spd still plays up now and my youngest is 2,my mum explained a pain to me she has had since having my sister, her youngest is 19,i imagine its kind of like arthritis and plays up when its cold weather etc,my seems worse when af comes due to the hormones,if you can go without an epi please try as you will be opening your legs past your pain threshold, you know as an spd sufferer how far wide you can open them and with what leg(one side was worse than the other with me), I gave birth with one leg open and the other semi open but it still hurt after. I gave my crutches up thinking i was fine and i wont need them, yes it was okay at first, but by the time lily was 2mths old it was back again, but it wouldnt come continuasly it would come in spasms

lots and lots of hugs and well wishes, its not nice

Tankett I hope the appointment with your MW was encouraging and she took on board the way you feel about labour as well as all the discomfort you are in.. I would expect them to scan you soon to check on position and growth / fluid etc and if still breech will defo offer you the c section. I wasnt quite offered it .. more like told I was having it as not enough fluid for Bodette to turn with or without obstetrician assistance and as she is extended breech it is quite risky to try to move her.

Let us know what MW says ... xx
