Introduce tumblers to your toddler? AJ is now 16 months and I want him to start drinking out of a big boy cup?

How do I teach him?

my daughter i got her using hers around 8 months old what i did was put her juice in a big girl cup and left it in front of her just changed the drink every few hours. evenutally she tried it and kept using it just replace it altogether within a few days he will be using it none-stop hunni x xx

Like a proper cup what we drink juice out of? 8 months old wow! i was still spoon feeeding aj at that age, girls must be quicker than boys then :(

My Lo always used to steal our drinks so could drink from a glass on her own from 11 months. We had a few accidents with it going everywhere but now at 20 months she has her drinks from a plastic tumbler every meal time and doesn't spill any. Id say at meal times just put it on the table and see how he goes. Just be prepared for water everywhere at first!

yes they make a huge mess when learning but its a curve, and she had one with a pour spout until one then i gave her a proper cup still had a few accidents here and there but they are to be expected lol x x x

I'm going to have to start learning him, i gave him a beaker of milk tonight instead of a bottle aswell and that seems to have gone down well :D

good keep going with it hunni you'll do brilliantly x x x

He would only have he's beaker again today but I did try and give him some pure orange juice out of my cup and he took well to that apart from the stupid faces he was pulling because of the tanginess! bless him :D

Eek, maybe I should be giving Lizzie a proper cup! I'm a bit scared though because although she can sip from a cup, she then tends to just fling it over her shoulder when she's done lol! It's hard enough with the mess when I let her feed herself with a spoon, let alone putting liquid into the equation

Tegan still has a 'baby' cup if you give her a proper cup she finds it funny to dribble it all down her!!

No AJ can't feed himself properly yet either and he is nearly 17 months, I wouldn't darent give him weatabix to feed himself as he will have it all in hes hair, up my walls, in the carpet.. the amount of time I have to clean my carpet because of him is unreal.

Don't get me wrong he has really good eye-hand co-ordination, but I think it is trusting him to feed himself which is more of a issue:shock:

AJ is the same lol! he has a habit of squeezing he's teat off he's bottle on to the table so all he's milk comes out and then splashes in what he has spilt and smears it all over the table!

Windowlene is a must with a 16 month old i'll tell ya
