When babies sleep...

...do babies dream?

Evie has just suddenly cried in her sleep...it was only really brief, about 5 secs, but it came from no-where!

(and was I cruel to laugh when it happened!? )

They dream in the womb.. ie have rapid eye movement which signifies dreaming... so yer, I'd say they do it as babies too.. Dreaming is what allows the brain to process the days information, so that the brain can analyse it, learn from it and store the experiences.

Question is... what do unborn babies dream about that requires rapid eye movement considering they live in a virtually soundless/lightless environment.

oooh good question....Evie chatters in her sleep too...she makes lots of little noises and her eyebrows go up and down
