It's a couple of days now that Maheenrefuses to feed!!! she used to drain her 180ml bottles quite easily but now, it's a real battle to et her to drink more than 60ml!!!! she will either play with thetit or starts screaming if we try to make her drink!!!

She has never been like this before, and as I said, she is usually quite keen on her bottle!!
What's happening to her?

I should say she doesn't have a cold, sleeps fine, and is quite happy the rest of the time, but feed time has become a real battle!!

What should we do? I don't understand!

Ella started doing this, she was rraining 8oz then started to have 4 then made a fuss and wdnt have the rest. Have you tried her with solids? This is why ella started to do this as she prefers the solids to her milk. If not then I cannot think why she is doing this?

well, no, I haven't started her with solids, coz she will be 3 months old this coming saturday! it's far too early, no?

I know she is very alert for her age, but still!!! and 12 weeks is when they also have a growth spurt, so I thought she would feed more, but it seems to be the other way round!!!!

Rubie did this yesterday. My friend at baby massage today suggested it could be teething??

Yeah possibly teething.

Brody has started feeding even less too, I asked my HV about it today and he said that now he's getting bigger and more aware of his surroundings his curiosity is taking over a bit and he's just distracted easily by what's going on.

I was sitting trying to feed him today at my moms and every time my mom said something to me Brody would turn around and look at her.

We had to sit in silence to try and get him to feed. I have to take him upstairs to feed him at home, I lie on the bed but I can't even read a book cos he always turns to try and look at it.

hmm, I know what you mean, Maheen kis very easily distracted, she loves looking around and can't stand missing out on something!!!
BUT, your little ones are much older than Maheen! she is not even 3 months old! and I have tried to look in her mouth...not very easy but I don't think there is anything in there! :?
she is supposed to feed again in one hour, I am dreading it! :wall:

the HV said to me today they dont have to have teeth coming thru to be teething sometimes the teeth just get into place in their gums.

Hi Mel

Olivia is just 1 wk older than Maheen and she was also doing this about a wk-10 days ago. She would arch away from me (she's BF) and scream after just a few gulps. The HV told me not to worry as long as she was still having wet nappies.

I'm pleased to say (touch wood!) that she's been a lot better the last few days and when I had her weighed today she's put on 19oz in 3 wks so she's obviously still getting enough.

Don't worry Mel, hopefully it will just be a passing stage like Olivia's. I also find like Urchin that I have to keep Olivia's feeds as quiet as possible and not look at her because then she starts chatting away!

I should have pointed out that Brody has been like this for a while.....he has never fed for that long and it's got worse about a month ago.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, just feed her in a nice quiet room (when you can... I know it's hard!)

Thanks Urchin, and the others for your help

Well, she did not drink very well again last night, and had a terrible night: she usually sleeps through till AT LEAST 05:30, and lately it had been till 08:30, but last night, she woke up every 2 hours!!!
She had trapped wind, and I am starting to think it's related to the formula: they have changed something in it (see other thread)
This morning, she has been a bit better, but you're right, I need to look away from her, I feel so mean, coz she always tries to look at me! :|

She's got her 2nd lot of jabs tomorrow, that's gonna help!!!!!! :wall: :wall: :wall:
