Since Xmas Leorah has had one thing after another - injections, teething, illness etc. Well she is still not right (unfortunately I have discovered she has a nut protein intolerance to add to the milk and soy so has a bad stomach) but the last two days she's hasn't wanted to feed or sleep at all in the day :wall: She is being very sociable and charming and is practising her new tricks but then it gets to the evening and she wants to go to bed earlier and earlier and then last night woke at 3am and drained both my breasts (she only ever feeds from one usually). When I feed her in the day she is too busy pulling off to watch TV, the dog or anyone else that might be around or is biting my nipple, picking my nose or pulling my hair  Don't get me wrong after all the misery its lovely to have a happy playful baby back but why can't she get the balance just right? Please tell me this is a phase! I don't mind getting up to feed her once a night really but she also seems to think its a great time to have a little mummy party

aww bless her!

ive got my fingers crossed its just a stage

Thanks I just realised I put this in the wrong section

Katt, Thea is behaving similarly at the min. She doesn't want to sleep during the day but goes earlier at night and wakes for a 3-4am feed. She hadn't been waking for a feed during the night for ages!

Hopefully its just a phase for both our girls!

Arianna doesnt like having naps through the days either!! She unfort never has done! I would say it's just a stage and not to worry.

Hope things get better soon for you!!

Hey Katt yes I think it is a phase but don't think it will go to soon :x !
This is why Otis now has his naps in his room and tends to get fed before and after his naps in HIS room! Otherwise his head just constantly swivels around!!!
The napping can be a bit difficult at first but I go through the same routine everyday and after a bit of battling he zones out, today I also opened his window a wee bit and he slept for an hour and a half :cheer: !!!
It seems that when they hit between 4 & 5 months their routine may need some altering so there is less distractions.
Good luck hun and hope you find a fix!!
By the way welcome to the late night club, DF's are out the window as Oats has been waking anytime between 9:30pm - 10:30pm and then again between 3:30 - 4:30 and finally 6:30-7:30 when he joins me in bed, it is exhausting!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I apologise for my giggling Katt but I can sooooo relate to what you are saying re Leorah feeding and being easily distracted. Oh you made me laugh. I get my nose picked and hair pulled ona regular basis.

Gabriella has also bought her bedtime forward but I am now giving her a formula before bed (she only takes between 2oz and 4oz as she feeds a lot from me in the day) I want to slowly wean her off of the breast before I return to work and she is having baby rice at lunchtime and a puree later on. She is now sleeping an average of 10 hours!!!! This is a record for Gabriella and she has done this all week (*God I hope I haven't jinxed myself  ).

Does Leorah have any solids? Could she be ready?

Our babies sure do keep us on our toes but how much fun are they now.

Good Luck Katt

Harry is formula fed but he is doing exactly the same things at the moment!

yep alfie does this too and is forumla fed but i have to follow him with the bottle otherwise we have a kick off from him gosh my boy loves his food 33 oz of milk a day and 3 meals one with a pudding so he is a growing lad!

Brody TOTALLY went through this, with the pulling away to watch TV etc. I had to feed him lying on the bed upstairs or with the lights dimmed and it still didn't really work.
It is just a phase though, they are just becoming much more aware of the world around them and don't want to miss a thing.

As far as the night wakings go, do you do a dreamfeed?

Also, did you want me to move this to the feeding section or routines or leave it where it is?

Hi everyone, i am soglad I am not on my own with this but sorry you are all having troubles too. Its obviously developmental as all our babies are in the same age bracket.

Tina I am not starting Leorah on solids until 6 months because this is the guideline for babies with intolerances. I plan to purely do baby led weaning as she can't eat cereals as they have milk powder in anyway. She is not showing any signs of wanting solids like demanding more milk than my body can make, if anything I have too much as she is too busy to feed in the day.

Last night was my worst night since she was a newborn!!!! She woke at 2am with a blocked nose so I gave her saline and decided I may as well feed her as she would definitely wake for a feed at some point after her meagre portions yesterday! I was right and she drank from both sides. Anyway from then on I was up every half an hour because her nose was so blocked she couldn't breath and she also had a dry cough :wall: I kept giving her the saline but it would only clear for a short while. I've tried vicks, snuffle babe and there are books tilting her cot but nothing is working! The only thing that ever clears her nose is medised but I can't give her that because it has paracetomel and I am pretty sure she hasn't got any pain.

Daggers i was thinking of you last night and was wondering where you get your energy from to be up so may times in the night every night! You are doing great, I was so miserable last night.

Urchin I am so pleased you can reassure us its a phase  I was thinking about introducing a DF but I express late in the evening for Leorah's bottle from her dad before bed every night so my boobs are empty at this time. I am sure if i can get her daily feedings back on schedule and she recovers from her cold completely she will start to go longer again  She used to sleep 10 hours a night uninterrupted so I know she can do it. Even if she did start to wake once a night for a feed from now on I wouldn't really mind as long as she went back to sleep until morning but last night she was trying to smile at me, she's so cheeky!!

Maybe it would be better to move this in case anyone else is going through the same, thanks Urchin and I hope we all have a great day of feeding, regukar naps and a good nighttime. I'm off fo a nap while Leorah dozes, I do hope its not going to be a 30 minutter

Katt just wanted to send you a hug

Hope things get back on track for you

Thank you Tina

I am very happy to say that Leorah slept from 7pm until 5am had a big feed and slept until 7am :cheer:

Yesterday I kept feeding times very boring and I had a tie on my dress she twirled in her fingers which helped (I now understand the concept of the breastfeeding necklace  ) She also made sure herself she was feeding plenty as if she knew that if she didn't take enough in the day she wouldn't be able to get a good nights kip! I raised her bed up a bit more, hung a bib with eucalyptus from her cot and gave her some medised as she is really struggling to breath at the moment and is very congested and keeps rubbing her nose and eyes, bless. Today she's still a little snotbag but is in good spirits after a good night sleep :)
