give your LO for finger foods?? Madison is eight months now and I have to say I am frightened to death of her choking :( :( it's a MASSIVE fear of mine and it's stopping me giving her things that other babies are having :( I feel terrible but I just panic :( someone help plzzzzz xx what can I be giving her? She had 1 tooth at the bottom and she has had toast but I even panic with that :( I'm bad aren't I :( !?!

Hiya, you could try lots of soft things like banana, bread & butter, bits of cheese etc. If you're worried about her chocking i'd avoid things like bits of apple or carrot to start with because they have a tendancy to snap bits off into their mouths. Very ripe pear is another good one because it'll literally fall apart as she sucks on it and so do rice cakes. Anything soft that will mush up in her mouth as she eats it. She may well gag sometimes though because at first she won't know how much is too much when she takes a bite but try not to panic she should be able to deal with it on her own.

I also give the babies I childmind their spoon after they've finished eating for them to play with and chew on, it gets them used to using a spoon.

Hope this helps!:)

my lo LOVES the organiz range, theres carrot puffs like wotsits but bigger and they melt in his mouth as he sucks them, there sweetcorn rings too which he loves and the rice cakes, they are a bit smaller though and i always go into panic mode cos they keep getting stuck to the roof of his mouth!!!. i also give him steamed carrot sticks, broccoli florets but hes not too keen tbh!he loves banana tho now! my HV told me to give hard boiled egg which i tried but it kept slipping everywhere!! good luck!

I give charley anything now but started off on banana, toast, bread and butter. Things that can go soggy when being sucked!

i give amelia some things but worry about bread and dry things but we getting there x

babies are amazing, i gave Isla a cheese spread sandwich yesterday and she just shoved it in her mouth and sucked on it. then she realised there was too much in there and coughed it all out. i didnt have to do anything. The organix range are amazing, Isla loves them all. I also give her the heinz biscotti, but for 7+ its meant to be mushed up with water, she just sucks it and copes really well with it.

Isla has two teeth, which I think has helped with the biscuits. Learn to trust your baby, its hard but its got to be done.

Emma xx

I agree with Emma, you have to trust them.
I used to panic when charley gagged, now when he's gagging, I sit there and tell him to bring it up and he does.
Those biscotti's are fab btw

they smell lush! Shes only had the apple ones but she loves them! They were on offer in Asda and mum went a bit nuts and bought tonnes of them.

Ooh we haven't tried apple, I only know about original and chocolate! He hasn't had the chocolate ones yet though!

i brought some organix carrot puffs rice cake ad sweetcor rings for amelia to try she chomped on a strawberry the other day and she was proper chewing ad she is coughing more when she gets things stuck which is better x
