Since my son turned 3 month's, he hasnt slept a full night since. He constantly cries and gurns in his sleep ....

He has been teething since 3 month's old, could this be the reason? I've tried calpol, bonjela, ashton parsins powders, nurofen , nothing seam's to be working .....

It's like he has nightmares in his sleep the way he screams at times, could it be nightmares at 6 month's old ? ? ?

I'm so confused and dont know what to do, I havent had a decent nights sleep for 3 months, i'm knackered all the time due to it, but dont want to feel like an idiot going to the doctor if it's just normal ?

Even when he's awake, he scream's so much he actually chokes himself and his whole face and head is purple !! dont get me wrong, i know at times thats just temper and wanting attention but it's not all the time, especially when the tear's appear....

have any of you experienced this and what did you do to help it ?

Also, he does this during then night but during the day, all he wants to do is sleep, he's constantly tired during the day and sleeps a alot, when it comes to bed time, he then does what i've just told you (above), i'm at my witts end tbh ....

Also, he's been gagging himself a lot, putting his fingers and fist in his mouth nearly all the time and choking himself, he's done it before and made himself vomit, is that normal? I have no idea how to stop it :-s

Hi hon,
Maybe people didn't see your post in this section but :hugs:it's so hard when you don;t know whats wrong and you're not getting any sleep.
I'm not the best with advise, Owen has only just gone through the night at 9/10 months. He still had waking screaming but nothing like you seem to be dealing with.
Does he seem in pain? Could it be wind? Is he bottle or bf?
Does ceddling hiom stop the crying or does he seem to scream in his sleep during the night (Owen did this for a bit, it did seem to be nightmares)

Do NOT WORRY about going to docs even with little questions, that is what they are there for, we have been loads and luckily my doc is very nice and reassuring. Maybe a trip to docs would help? Do you have a hv you see at all? What has their advice been?

xxx

sometimes he seems in pain other times its like hes having bad dreams? his hands r constantly in his mouth, its like a river coming out his mouth all the time. i havent seen health visitor since he was 4 months n that was just a woman to explain weaning?maybe i will go to dr xx

could just be teething, Owen has constant dribble. We have teeth now but no new ones appeared for a few months and still LOADS of dribble...bibs and top changes all the time.

Maybe see doc and/or hv just for peace of mind hon xx

Hope some other ladies have a bit of advice too? There seem to be a few threads about sleep problems atm x

Hi Marianne,

My son was the same..he liked sleeping in the day and hated bedtime. I started researching and found that babies need to be taught that bedtime is sleeping time. I tried by introducing his massage, bath and feed time at nite. After following this for a week he started going for 6-7 hours at night. I have now put him in nursery where he is unable to sleep much during the day bcz of activity around so is sleeping a bit more in night. Try the routine thing. I am sure it will help. and Ya make sure his room is dark and play some white noise cd/light music which soothes him. Believe me I tried all this. It was lot of hard work but we are now 9 hrs at night..on lucky days even 10 hrs some times..good luck
