i went with my sister to see a singer that she wants for her wedding and her step daughter sang too, i must have had 3 cokes and that was it i was so ill next day i couldn't believe it, didn't drink so laughing at everyone else thinking i will feel great and they will all have hangovers, never drinking coke again. singer and neice were great though

Glad you had a good time, but sorry to hear you felt so bad!
I had a night out planned last Saturday with hubby and some friends, so I went to pub too and sat drinking ginger beer as my normal drink is rum and ginger beer.. hubby had to keep sneaking to bar and pretending my drinks had rum in as no one knows!
I had to leave around midnight as I was shattered, much to the amazement of our friends as we normally stay out a little later.... so hoping no one has guessed! xxx

I have got a work do to go on next week... A collegue leaving. My and my OH are normally the party animals of these things and never get home before 2am. But I go to bed at 9.30 these days. Hope no one suspects.. lol.

luckily enough my family knew and everyone else just thought i was driving and didn't ask which is strange as they all know i'm usually the 1st 1 to have a drink they must have just thought i was tired with not long having a baby oops. I wasn't hiding it but remember having to in the past, saying you have somethig planed for the next day usually helps take away the suspicion ie me getting up with a baby. I hope your night goes well nanc. I think by the time everyone gets drunk they dont notice you left early, fingers crossed no one guessed fallingstar

im the same, i know some people must have guessed because im such a party animal and weve had a few work nights out and ive been making my excuses. Im usually the first one out and the last one to go home! x

You're right mumo. I will make an excuse as to why I'm driving and hope the others get slaughtered quickly. Has anyone had a "proper" drink? I haven't touched a drop, but have read that the odd one is fine. I will be 12 weeks on the night out and wondering if a v small red wine would be ok. What do you think?

I've done lots of reading on what's safe and what's not as I am really trying to do my best to be good!
Apparently, small amounts of alcohol taken infrequently *should* be ok. A small amount of alcohol is classed as 1 or 2 units once or twice a week.
However, different studies link even a small amount of alcohol to increased risk of miscarriage, risk of mental health problems in later life and also harm developement of babies face, organs and brain.
Some of it is definitely scaremongering a little, I think, as plenty of pg women continue to have the occasional glass of wine and everything is ok. But I guess it's always better safe than sorry.

A few links above that I looked at ;) xx

Thanks Fallingstar. I think I'll probably stay off it altogether until tri 2 when miscarriage risk is smaller, and then have the odd drink only if I'm really wanting one. X
