Help!!!!!!!! Can I ask how much you paid for your wedding photos?? We were not going to brother with getting some one to take photos. But now I want some one professional to do some. But I just had a quote and its more than i thought, 250 pounds just to hire, not inclding photos. Is this alot? I am running out of time to find some one.

We paid about £350 for ours 2 years ago & that was a good deal.
Try & find one that does it on the side or is retired as they will be cheaper. Photographers that do it full time tend to be alot more expensive.
Wedding photographers do charge an arm & a leg, my best mate paid about £900 for hers last year (she's going through divorce proceedings as we speak so definately not worth the money!!)

Good luck.x

I *think* ours was about £450 and that included a really nice album of photos (that was 5 years ago). It was different prices for different album styles :)

omg thats really good i've just booked mine for next year and its 900 pound they range fom 750 up all the ones i've asked

My friends photographer charged around £500 cant remember exactly. She got an album of 30 photos and a dvd of all 100+ pics :)

My dad used to be a wedding photographer, he never made a profit from it he just did it for friends of friends and word of mouth. He charged £130, this was a few years ago though.

The guy is free lance, It sounds cheap from what you girls have said. But OH says its a waste of money. But i am standing up for myself for a change. Thats why i left it till now to look. Because He did not want one, But I do want one now.

 HOW much?? looks like we wont be getting married for a while yet......

Be careful if you are getting someone who does it free-lance. I got married last year, and he charged us £495, and the photos are crap. He had no idea at all. You need someone who is very loud and strong so they can shout at friends and family when he wants them. Mine kept asking me what I wanted next!! I had enough on my plate at the time!!!

I only had one bridesmaid and that was my daughter, and we don't have one photo of the three of us together. :(

Also, make sure you get down something in writing about what they are going to do for you. At the meeting, mine said he would do 400+ photos (he did 110), and he would be there right until the last dance (we had to rush the first dance because he wanted to leave!)

Also, a good tip is to give him a list of any special photos you want, such as a picture of both hands with the rings on. He told us he was going to do this, then didn't and obviously we didn't remember on the day.

Best thing I can suggest is to get a recommendation off someone you know who has recently got married. And make sure you see some examples of their work as well.

Do you have a college by you that specializes in photography?

My friend got someone from the photography college to take her wedding pictures on the cheap. The professional guy she wanted to hire would have cost 400

My firends wedding pics are amazing. The guy took my friend and her husband into the park opposite as they got married in a registry office... wasnt a very romantic setting. The guy charged them 150 quid! The photos are perfect... ill ask my mate if I can get a couple of copies and post them up.

Its worth looking into :D

My uncle did mine, so i don't know about costs....
but as well as that we put throw away camera's on the table and asked people to take as many pictures as they wanted and to hand the camera's to us at the end of the night so that they were our pictures, but they were from everyone's different perspective....
We only had 20 people at our wedding though - no way i'd have coped with having more there lol, so wasn't too many camera's etc.

Good Luck with finding someone though

xox

We have got disposable cameras for the tables. Maybe I should not bother? This is the only thing I have had to organise and its stressing me out! My MIL has sorted most things out. thank you MIL.

My MIL sorted out most things for us too!!
Is there anyone you or anyone close knows who does photography as a hobby? Thats how my uncle got into it, and even though he failed his photography a-level (i didn't even know they did one!) As a family we've had to put up with him telling us where to stand etc forever, and we know his pics are good!

Where do you live? (the place in your sig i have no idea where it is!!)

If you want ones at the registry office/church, give a few people their camera's early so that they can get them for you (if you don't bother with the "official" guy) Our registry office wouldn't let us take pictures until after they'd done their bit then let us pose with the register, so defo worth checking with the place you're getting married before you decide to take the plunge hiring someone cos they're the pictures i wish i could've had... to show the real emotions, nervousness etc!

And what someone else said about writing down the special pictures you definately want... we did that, cos G's parents are divorced and he's not got a picture of him, mum, dad and sister... so we made sure that one was done, it was like a roll call, but it made sure we had them all!!!

Good luck with it whatever you decide

xox

I have cancelled. Just going to get family to take photos. I cant spend that much on photos. I have my little boy to think about, I am not going back to work so we need as much money as we can save! That much money could go to a hoilday!

Hey...Were getting married in 3 weeks, and have also decided against a phototgrapher, for 3 reasons:
1, I dont like posey types of photos (no offence to any one)

2, very tight budget, were doing the whole day on about 4k inc dress.

Our family friend is taking the pics, he has done some fab ones, and he will know exactly what i want. I like more natural pics.

I guess its personal choice, but i cant justify a £1000 for photos. Id rather spend it on my little chick!

sorry i dont agree with that photos last for ever and ares is doing all natural ones apart from in church but every one is different

Well, like i said, photos are personal choice!!!!!!!
when you have some one to do the style of photos you like for free, i guess your gonna take them up on it arent you???

i am not getting a photographer, too expensive, my brother is taking them and at least i can see them before i put them in an album, i know quite a few people who have paid over £900 one of my friends photo's were really bad, she took the photographer to court in the end to get her money back

Now that would upset me! paid and they were poo!!

Each to there own if i had the money i would be i would rather buy a lovely dress, or cake! yum yum!! :cheer:

I'm still trying to convince my dad to take mine cos he is really good, but he doesn't want to, he wants to enjoy the day, how selfish!! (only kidding!!) he is going to get one of his mates to do them cheap :D
