We have decided Alice Joan Rose Whelan (after my great nan and 2 nans) for a girl.

For a boy we have decided Toby James Whelan

However I know so many people who have had their baby and decided that they don't look like they should have the name they have chosen

I am happy with the name choices but cant help but wonder if I may be one of those people, I said about a few back up names for each sex just in case as I wouldn't want baby to be nameless, however I am very very fussy with names as I work in a nursery and have done for years and I have been put off of may names (some are too common) (some are too unusual) so the fact we have agreed in the first place is pretty much a miracle.

Sadie
Ava
Evie

I never had a back up for either sex. We decided on a boys and girls name at 11 weeks and they stuck. We found out we were having a girl but still said if they had it wrong we would have used the boys name. I kind of liked having the identity already created. I'm of the opinion they grow into what ever you call them. Love both your names. Xx

Just echoing what Gayle said but babies do tend to grow into their names.

We were Team yellow so had one of each and no backups. Took us long enough agreeing on any

I agree, they always grow into their name (in my opinion) When my little boy Caleb was born and a couple of days old and registered etc I had the horrible thought that he looked like a George. To the point where I was looking at him through tears thinking what have I done! Now he's nearly two and a half and is DEFINITELY a Caleb! I just can't imagine him being called anything else, especially when he says his own name!
