as i wasnt bothered about waterbirth i didnt listen very closely at parentclass yesterday (until i saw the room with the pool and suddenly visioned it all infront of me all clear)

But im sure she said something like "the mum have to catch the baby herself cuz as soon as we touch the baby its getting stimulated" im not sure if it was that it start to try n breath under water i didnt get that bit cuz whats the diferent if a MW takes the baby from the water or the mum?
She said somethimes the mum dont take the baby and then she have to half dive in the to catch it but that she shouldnt?

I just didnt understand really.

i said to OH that i dont wanna stress over that i have to catch Noa aswell as pushing him out and he said if we are aloud, he wouldnt mind catching him and bring him up to me.. surely this would be possible?:oooo:

i love the thought of OH and me doing it all on our own with just the MW in the room..

It's perfectly fine. I have it in our birth plan that my OH is to 'receive' the baby from the water, tell me the sex then place baby on me for skin to skin.

Excessive stimulation under the water can stimulate them to breath but the main "trigger" for them to start, is air hitting their face. Or so I was told :P

They dont need to instantly be brought to the surface, So dont worry about actually catching him, aswell as not having the stimulation to breath, babies have a drive reflex anyway AND are still attatched to the placenta so are getting oxygen from that :)

we sat there writing in our birtplan last night and where looking for the word "receive" but none of us could think of it so we put "my partner to catch our son" :wall2:
hahaha

thanks

That puts a vision in my head of you firing Noa out at speed and your bloke rushing across the room to catch him like a baseball! he he x

thats exacly what will happend, my noa wont be no problem getting out, just open my legs and out he shoots!(we have daily spoken about that in the bath Noa and me :) ) lets hope he got some good afro on him to protect that little head as i dont trust oh 100% to get him before he hits his head on the otherside of the pool!

my sister saod to me today.. "what if you have a poo in the water"
I said im sure the mw fish it up with a net or sum, she was like "what if you have the shits"

ooo noo i didnt think about this.. what do u do if that happends?

haha Not too sure. We are planning a waterbirth and I have wondered what will happen if I poo!! lol. "WE HAVE A FLOATER!" LMAO X

Oh My God I would die!! Yeah I guess they net it out.. but if you got the runs.. Ewwww no more water birth LOL

i see my self doing it all nice and calm but now i got this vision that i sit there crying my eyes out in a pool full of shit!

The expression to 'catch' the baby is perfectly acceptable and the correct one to use. :D

eta: unless you prefer 'receive' obviously.....but they do come out quick and mine have definitely been caught rather than received!!

thank you!! then i dont have to feel stupid about my birthplan!

Nope! it's EXACTLY the term most MWs use these days. Babies dont come out slowly! Once they come they fly out!

only if no one catches them! There's enough warning usually.... ;)

haha

what about the poo buissnes...
is there a fishing net?
