I just thought it would be helpful if people could pass on their wisdom and top tips for washing, drying, and caring for re-usable nappies & wool wraps :)

For example, do you hand, soak or machine wash? What temperature is needed? What products do you use? Links to good sellers? Do you tumble dry, line dry, radiator?

Any other issues I've left out, please feel free to add, and thankyou very much in advance

*EDIT to add this is all about wool wraps*

I machine wash mine on a gentle wash (30 degrees). I think it does make the fibres a bit tighter but doesn't felt. If you have handknitted garments and want to keep them looser then handwashings the only way. I only put half the dose of powder in.

I lanolise every so often. My lanolin is from a company called Under The Gooseberry Bush who aren't curently trading but lots of places do it. You can even use old Lanisoh breastcream as that's 100% lanolin. Just melt a teaspoon or so in water and soak the woolies overnight, then rinse (or not if you like 'em greasier) and dry. Always dry flat.

I prefer handknits. I've linked to my favourite before, but here it is again, she's fab. Pixie Knits

I've also had some gorgeous items from this lady. Service is always impeccable

Let me know if you want to see some Stanley wooly bum pics. I never get bored of talking about him/them

hey hun.. i never machine wash ours.. as it damages the wool.. our washing instructions are to hand wash your woolies in warm water with a squirt of mild soap such as baby wash i leave ours to soak for 15 mins then rince with warm water.. ring out then lanolise..

lanolise by boiling the kettle get a spoon full of lanolin ( i also use under the goosberry bush or lansinoh nipple lanolin) pour the boiling water over the lanolin so i takes it off the spoon and into the empty nappy pale fill with the water about 5 inches.. stur the lanolin then add cold water untill the mixture becomes warm (and enough to cover the woolies - makesure the mixtures warm when u add woolies though) squirt a spoon full of babysoap into the mixture and stur.. then plunge your damp woolies into the mix and leave overnight (min of 3 hrs)

take the woolies out of the pale wring gentley.. then wrap in an old towel and squuze exess moisture out.. peg folded in half on the line or dry away from direct heat or wool will shrink..

its easy peasy to do.. i wash my woolies about once every 6-8 weeks then relanolise and get them back on for bed.. wool is great as it keeps baby warm in winter and cool in the summer as the air circulates in the fibers..

taking care of your nappies is a doddle..baby wees in them you jsut throw them in the nappu pale and kee[ filling untill wash day..

if he poo's you swill the poo off down the toilet (if the shower head with reach - with cold water) or give the loo a flush and gold on tight to the nappy.. then chuck in teh nappy pale and wait till wash day..

wash day.. put the nappies in the machine set to a cold prewash or a wool wash on cool with no powder.. then put on a 40 degree wash with half the amount of detergent and wash.. when teh machines done peg out or radiator or tumbly.. easy...

lol.. if ur stuck with anything give me a shout..

nappies - I dry pail mine. Bung them in the wash and wash on a 30or 40 degree wash using a small amount of washing liquid and tea tree or lavender oil. If they are stained, out on the line in the sunshine.

woolies-I hadwash mine in either a wool wash (got a loveley one from hyenacart) which smells of cookies, or baby shampoo and then soak in lanolin (I am using my lasinoh at the moment)
