It's my due date today. For reasons too complicated to bother going into- I never expected to get this far!
Until today I'd been quite chuffed to have got this far- it's brilliant.

So me, and my midwife (and my family!) have all just been waiting for me to go into labour (and beginning to wonder whether it is actually going to happen at all!). I'd actually started to get quite fed up with it- pain in my ribs, terrible pain low in my pelvis when I stand up and walk, sciatic pain shooting down my legs, crippling heart-burn...
Then my midwife called me this morning, and said she was worried that the reason I haven't gone into labour yet might be that the baby is breech!!! I hadn't even considered it! I had a scan at 32 weeks, and she was head-down; and every time I've been examined since, the midwife has said "the head is 3/5 down" into the pelvis. So I kind of assumed that that meant that the head was 3/5 down into the pelvis (well, you would, wouldn't you?). But she says maybe the baby's been fooling us, and maybe the presenting part is not a head at all!!

Well, I hadn't even covered this as a possibility- this is the first suggestion of it. I know it's quite rare. And I also know that most breech babies are born by C-section... and I was hoping for the most natural home-birth known to human kind....

Has anyone else had anything like this?

Oh hun....sorry I have no idea.....did mw not offer to send you for a scan so they could check? IS it worth asking them for one.....worrying you isn't going to do any good.

I hope baby is the right way round, and that its just a matter of waiting for baby to decide to grace you with her presence......***NON BREECH LABOUR DUST*** & Happy Due Date

Thanks.
I'm booked for a scan tomorrow. Doesn't stop me worrying all day and all night today, though :(

Oh hun........sorry they are making you wait until tomorrow for it.....I agree - it won't stop you worrying, I guess the only thing to do is to try to distract yourself......then tonight run yourself a warm bubbly bath, light some candles and try to relax as much as you can (easier said than done I know  ).

Hope all works out well....and baby is just tricking you because she is so snuggly & warm where she is

Hi,

Please don't worry. There should be no reason at all for the mw to think that your baby might be breech, just because you haven't gone into labour yet - what a silly thing to say!

And even if it is breech, there are plenty of women who have given birth naturally this way. Although, I don't think you'd get your homebirth. And there are still things you can do to help baby move round anyway.

Try not to worry. Just relax and try to think positive thoughts until your scan. No point upsetting yourself when there really is no need to until you actually know.

Good luck for tomorrow, and hope that your babe is the right way round.

Aw hun  I hope your mw is "away with the fairies" and your baby is facing the right way and just not ready to come out yet. WHy is she worrying you like that when its only your due date today presumably she'd leave you for 10-14 days over anyway!

Best of luck with your scan tomorrow.

hope baby turns for u hun, but c sections arent all that bad - u still get to hold ur LO!! :cheer:

Wow.

I got myself into such a tizz- I rang my midwife and told her I just couldn't wait until tomorrow.

So she came round and did an internal examination ( ). She said my cervix was soft and opening- and she could feel right through to the membranes- and she felt HAIR!!!!

So- not only is baby the RIGHT way around- but she might not be very long before she's born!!!!

Due date today.... it's not too late!!!!

:D

Woohoo what a silly woman making you worry for no reason :D how exciting you could be holding your LO by the weekend :D

well glad its sorted and happy due date

hope LO makes an appearance soon
