It's my due date today. For reasons too complicated to bother going into- I never expected to get this far!
Until today I'd been quite chuffed to have got this far- it's brilliant.
So me, and my midwife (and my family!) have all just been waiting for me to go into labour (and beginning to wonder whether it is actually going to happen at all!). I'd actually started to get quite fed up with it- pain in my ribs, terrible pain low in my pelvis when I stand up and walk, sciatic pain shooting down my legs, crippling heart-burn...
Then my midwife called me this morning, and said she was worried that the reason I haven't gone into labour yet might be that the baby is breech!!! I hadn't even considered it! I had a scan at 32 weeks, and she was head-down; and every time I've been examined since, the midwife has said "the head is 3/5 down" into the pelvis. So I kind of assumed that that meant that the head was 3/5 down into the pelvis (well, you would, wouldn't you?). But she says maybe the baby's been fooling us, and maybe the presenting part is not a head at all!!
Well, I hadn't even covered this as a possibility- this is the first suggestion of it. I know it's quite rare. And I also know that most breech babies are born by C-section... and I was hoping for the most natural home-birth known to human kind....
Has anyone else had anything like this?
