hmmm just a quick question. the last sort of 5/6 weeks alfie has been wakking in the night for a drink. first of all it was just 1 drink so i started leaving his beaker in his cot, but the last sort of 3 weeks he wakes several times for a few sips of juice. he drinks alot in the day and eats alot and has a couple bottles of milk still before naps.
he isnt c ontent with just having his beaker in there anymore he wants me to go in to him. is this something he will grow out of or is it normal? is there anything i can do to stop him waking so his sleep isnt disturbed ... and mine too really!

Personally I would try to avoid giving juice because of the risk of damaging his teeth, how about milk before bed and then just offering plain water when he wakes so he realises it's not worth waking for?

he does have a bottle f milk before bed, well he has hot chocolate mixed in with his milk. I have tried giving him water but he really dislikes it. maybe its just a case of a couple of hard nights i suppose if he was thirsty enough he would drink it wouldnt he!

Did he used to sleep ok on the hot choc? Could it be that which is making him a bit unsettled? Is he teething?

my 2 are always thirsty
but iots slowly slowing down and they have it for comfort
they go to bed with milk then before i go to bed about 12am i fill their bottle with Water if they wake they suck it back to sleep.

but i think the more fluid they have the more thirsty they get.

That's true Dionne, Ella had 20oz of milk last night due to comfort feeding (before she settled). She was soaking wet this morning!

Aimee used to do this and she'd wake at least 10 times at night for a couple of sucks of juice. This went on for months and I tried just giving her water but she wouldn't have it. In the end I did the controlled crying with her cos I couldn't take it anymore. She wasn't thirsty she just got used to it!
