I'm a new mommy. I breastfed for about 2 months and my doctor said I should try pumping to see of my milk has dried up. How long did it take or does it normally take for milk to dry up? I'd absolutely love to breastfeed my little booger again! Btw, I stopped when Izaiah was 2.5 months, he's now 6 months. Thanks ladies ! :)

Really depends. Some people carry on getting milk, all you can do is try.

Sorry hun. Really not sure on this one. When I had my first baby, I didn't breastfeed him at all and it only took about 2 weeks for my milk to dry up. I am breastfeeding my second and have not had any breaks in between so I am not sure how long it will take to dry up. The fact you have not breastfed baby for 3.5 months may mean that your milk has dried up now and your body won't produce any more now because it hasn't needed to for so long. But again, I am not sure if it is possible to restart breastfeeding once you have stopped.

Sorry not much help but I hope you find a solution.

Some people are able to re-lactate, however I think your doc is wrong in telling you to pump, your best bet would be to try and get LO to latch on, they are much more efficient than a pump, and will also stimulate your supply.
