Has anyone had this?
I'm 35 weeks and my baby is in an unstable lie moving between oblique, head down/back to back and worst of all- transverse.
At my last mw appointment last week he was head down 4/5ths engaged but then moved to transverse straight afterwards.
I've got another mw appointment on Thursday when I will raise my concerns (googling is not good!)
I just wondered as a presentation scan seems useless if he is just going to move about again afterwards!

Yep, I was going to post something similar as I feel like the only one without a head down baby right now. I'm also 35 weeks and baby is currently transverse. My son was a planned section as only ever transverse. This baby does keep flipping hough but unfortunately only going from transverse one side to transverse the other side lol!
I have a consultant appointment on Monday where they have said if he is still transverse il be hospitalised until section at 38-39 weeks in case of waters going and cord prolapse.
Have they spoken to you about any kind of 'cut off' where they'd like to intervene if baby does not settle in t position? For me it's this Monday coming :/ getting very nervous.

Baby is taking after your name....a wee monkey!!

Can't offer any advice, sorry. They do say though they can move right up until birth, even though they are lacking in space.

My first was breech so had a planned section at 37wks. Second was back to back. They two are still troublesome lol

See how it goes on Thu and take it from there x

Thanks- no nothing has been mentioned at all. At my last mw appointment with my normal midwife she wasn't concerned as he was head down, then head down again when I saw the hospital mw last week- I'm seeing my normal mw again this Thursday but I think maybe because he has been head down at the appointments they don't believe/trust that he is actually moving about like I say he is (right now I have a 'ridge' along the front of my stomach and two hard lumps either side...clearly back to transverse!)
I'm planning a home birth and can't stop worrying about him not being in the right position for labour. He's my third and my other two were well behaved!

I know what you mean about the scan though, I had one a few weeks back and baby had gone breech for all of 5 minutes whilst they were scanning which was really annoying as I know he'd been transverse for such a long time before! A scan feels completely pointless. I'd give it until 37 weeks but after that you'll really need to have a good chat about what your options are if baby is still on the move or transverse as if can be dangerous to go in to labour naturally. I'm not saying it to scare you and I hope he settles sounds like you've really got your heart set in your home birth but I unfortunately became a bit of an expert on this and it's not the kind of thing you can monitor yourself and hope everything will work out ok, if you're waters break whilst baby it transverse it could turn in to a bit of an emergency.

I feel the disappointment you must have, I thought I'd get to labour naturally this time and those hopes are quickly fading away and as I said I have until Monday before the hospital intervenes and won't risk my body starting labour on my own :(

I came on to start a similar thread about transverse babies. I am around 30 weeks and my baby has been transverse since 20 weeks. Baby has never once moved position- I always have legs on one side, a head on the other and have never felt movement much higher than my belly button. I can feel lots of space up there...so frustrating that baby doesnt want to make the most of it!
Currently feeling a bit low about it as this is my first and had always imagined a natural birth. I am currently being told not to worry, I am being scanned in 5 weeks and if still transverse they will discuss options with me. Please move baby!!!

Is it not good youre not getting kicked in the robs though rachey?
You should at least breathe easier this way for now
And there's plenty of time yet x

I have a monkey too thay was tranverse for ages, FINALLY went head down but is now oblique/ breech!! I think she will just do what she wants no matter what I try now lol

Homebirth planned here too :( really don't want a csec!!

Mrs S yes, that is definitely the plus side of this position. And if the baby turns in the next few weeks I will count myself lucky that I had all that time without rib pain! But still cant help worrying he wont turn.

Our son was an unstable lie and was in and out of the head down position from around 30 weeks. My midwife sent me for a number of presentation scans - the first at around 34weeks which showed he was in fact head down, deep in the pelvis. The consultant felt confident he wouldn't move from that position and we were sent home. A routine midwife appointment followed at 39 weeks and she suspected he was transverse! At hospital, we were scanned and it was confirmed that he was indeed transverse - I don't think anyone could believe it. At that point we were admitted to maternity inpatients on the 4th Sept and monitored. Our boy remained transverse / oblique until 8th Sept and then we were booked in for a C section. The plot thickened when on the morning of the planned section, I was examined and he had turned head down!!!! I was all prepped for theatre with a husband with a bag full of baby clothes and his camera! The consultant said he could not justify a section with a baby with his head down, but promised to examine me the next morning. The next morning he had turned to oblique again (!!!) so the consultant made the decision to deliver him by section that morning. Luckily I had gone nil by mouth voluntarily at the suggestion of one of the midwives. I have to say the section was amazing - so calm and as beautiful as I had hoped. Our boy is now a very healthy and loud seven month old but I'll never forget how much trouble he was before birth. Wishing you all lots of luck and love. Xxxx
