Unboiled Tap Water??

Hi, my HV told me that unboiled water was fine from 6 months. However, boiled water should always be used when making up formula.

I was told the reason you have to use boiled water when making up the milk is because bacteria grows much more quickly in milk so you need to ensuring the water is as pure as possible.

Hope this makes sense but let me know if you need further clarification.

Just so you know, my little boy is 2 and I still boil his water. I am just starting to wean him off formula too as I have milk allergies in the family so did not want to risk cows milk with him until he was a little older.

i use tap unboiled tap water for Harley now for every thing. inc his milk. i have done since he was 6months.

Aimee has being having unboiled tap water as a drink since she was about 9 months I think. I always used boiled water for her formula because I was unsure how to make it up without. She has been on cows milk since she was 11 months anyway. She never much liked her formula.

I did the same for Lydia

I have always used cooled boiled water. Got a water filter for xmas though so will now give her that instead

I tend to avoid tap water just because it is very hard and smells of chlorine where we live. I don't drink it so wouldn't give it to Phoebe!!

I think it's totally safe to give babies tap water from 6mths though. It's all down to personal preference. :D
