Hi

I'm new here, I'm 4+4.

I'm having a private scan at 6 weeks - what is the likelihood that I'll see the heartbeat?

Xx

Oops - my first post didn't work! I've edited bow

I had a scan at 6w 1d and they could see the heartbeat.

Good luck!

They say you can most likely detect the heartbeat at 6 weeks but it isn't guaranteed, 7 - 8 weeks is better for a definite heart beat xx

The heart is definitely supposed to be beating by 6 weeks, but sometimes the sonographer cannot pick it up by sound. You should definitely be able to see it fluttering like a little feather though! I did with mine and it was wonderful.

Good luck with your scan and I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months xx

Thank you!

This will be a abdominal scan... does that make any difference? It's private so won't be internal x

I had an abdominal scan at what I now know was 6+1 and saw a heartbeat (well the sonographer saw it, she tried to point it out to me. It I couldn't see it ) x

Don't worry too much if you can't see a hb, still very early your dates might not be exact as can be affected by things like ov being late etc. Hope all goes well x
