Hi,
So my partner and I just had a very early M/C - we were unsure about being pregnant initially but after it had sunk in we were super happy only to lose it days later.
Anyway, this has really increased our desire to conceive.
My problem is that I am in a job I HATE which to top it off might as well pay me peanuts. I am in the care sector and provide 24 hour support to individuals with learning disabilities (that is not the bad part, its quite a nice job) I do shifts such as a 7am start to 11pm at night then sleepover at the persons house, get up during the night with them etc and then get up for work at 7am to go home eventually at 8am! It is a LONG shift and it is very intense as it is one on one support.
That aside - the pay is very poor for all of this and there are various risk factors such as a risk of Hep B but no offer from employer to get vaccinated.
I have racked up over a year of employment here so would get reasonable maternity pay however I have a interview next week for a temp part time position with the council - it is only for one year, its less hours but pays the same.
If I started this job till May 2013 and conceived in the next few months where would I stand on maternity pay etc with it being a temp job?
Any advice would be great!
