Travel cot for early use

We were thinking of getting that to begin with. I phoned Graco and they said that both that and the electra cot (those were the 2 I was asking about) are suitable to be used as permanent cots as they have breathable mattresses.

We have decided against the petite bassinet because it is only 80cm long. We don't want baby squished up against the ends and OH and I are both tall (I was 55 cm long when born) so we don't think we'd get very long out of it.

I bought a swinging crib and moses basket for Adam and they were a waste of money as he didn't like sleeping in them, so I would say defo get a travel cot as you will get more use out of it for your money.

The instructions on my travel cot says to remove the basionett when your baby reaches 6.5kg or is very active. I had to put Adam into his cotbed at 14 weeks as he was too heavy for it.

Hope this helps. xxx

Full size travel cots are the length of a crib, they are just wider. We've got a travel cot to begin with until we decide what we will need.

thanks ladies, see what you mean about getting the bigger one...hmmm

but if the mattress is fine in the wee one should go to 6 months ok?

I don't know to be honest. We decided against it as £60 seemed a lot to spend on it if it might do very little time. I looked up a baby length chart to see how long we might be able to use it for. I seem to remember that if we have a tall boy (given that we'd like a bit of space at the top so baby's head doesn't get squashed) we might only get 3 or 4 months out of it. But if we have a small girl it could work for much longer.

You could put baby diagonally but as we have very little experience of tiny new babies we decided to err on the side of caution.
