We're having a traditional birthday party for our daughter's 3rd birthday tomorrow. Having recently been to a soft play party and received another invite to another soft play centre for a child's birthday, I was wondering how many of you plan or have had traditional parties for your LOs?

We're doing it for cheapness and because we loved parties as children. It's blinking hard work though - I already made a small cake earlier this week for her actual birthday and have just spent the whole morning making and decorating another cake for her party!! Jelly is made in the shape of a rabbit and I have party bags and balloons.

Now just hoping it'll be a success!

For the past 2 years weve just had close family and friends at home. Will do the same this year too no doubt x

I did a traditional party for my little ones 1st, luckily it was summer so a big gathering outside in the garden with music and games and food, baked cupcakes for all, nice and easy and relaxing! I always find soft play parties a bit of a nightmare even if Im not the one who has arranged it!

I do traditional parties. My LO loves them and gets so confused when he goes to a party that doesn't have party games. So he's really looking forward to his.

Well it went really well! Good to know others do the whole traditional thing too - I wasn't sure if anyone did - all the ones my daughter's been invited to are soft play ones. The one she went to the other weekend was absolute hell. Lost her within seconds and there were so many people, it took a good 5 mins to track her down (right at the top of the main frame, which is supposed to be for 5-12 year olds!).

Olly had a traditional party for his 1st.
It was a lush day so we were in the garden, we made a party buffet for the kids and put the bbq on for the adults. We brought Ollys toys out in the garden for the kids.

It was great. Planning on the same this year but maybe trying to hire a small bouncy castle and renting the local hall and putting our own party buffet and kids games

I agree - Soft plays are carnage when your there for a party

xx

My youngest is 2 today :) we had his party at home on Daturday, pass the parcel, a treasure hunt in the garden (chocolate coins) and I have made my boys Birthday cakes from birth. Then very one went home with a party bag. All the kids loved it!

My eldest in a June baby so we still have it at home but he has a bouncy castle and a BBQ in the garden :) xx

Queenriccy, I see from your ticket your LO's and my eldest share the same Birthday! :)
