My boy is 19 weeks. He's in a routine of Eat Activity Sleep (aka Easy - the Y is your time apparently!).

He's having 210ml most feeds. The reason I'm worried about over feeding is that he has at least 6 bottles a day and I know there's no such thing but not sure if that's normal? He only naps 45 mins a time (4 throughout day) so is eating every 2.5-3 hours. I've tried getting him to stay awake longer (naps every 2ish hours) but he just gets grouchy.

Does this sound like too many feeds? Should I try and extend periods in Between feeds? Worried that if I did that it'll throw off his little routine.

What feeds are you all giving your babies around same age?

Thanks in advance x

Ps not sure how much he weighs now but a month ago he was 15lbs

No advice but I'm worried my LO isn't getting enough feeds & he roughly goes between 3/4 hours & is on 6oz feeds. I feed on demand so it's basically a case of he is only having a bottle when he wants it & is hungry!? He is gaining weight & healthy so I'm trying to not worry myself with regards how many bottles he is having in a day/evening. Yesterday he had 5 feeds & on last weigh in he was 8lbs 13oz (I think)

As long as you're feeding him because he's giving you his usual hunger cues, rather than just to fit in with the routine then it's fine.

As you say there's no such thing as normal. My eldest was the opposite at this stage, I had such a mission getting milk into him!

I don't see a problem with that amount of feeds. Like above said, aslong as he's actually hungry and feeding on demand its fine.
I'm pretty sure theres a growth spurt around that time too. If I can remember back, im sure a few weeks before around 11/12 weeks my boy started to feed almost every 2 hours! So I weaned early.

But keep going as you doing =) mention it to health visitor if you want a 'proffesional' opinion =)

I don't see an ussue with his feeds. At 4 months my LO went through an enormous growth spurt and had 50oz (1,420ml according to Google!) across 8 feeds in a 24 hour period!

My boy is 21 weeks and has 5 feeds of 240ml per day, sometimes he finishes them all, sometimes not. He usually gets through atnleast a litre a day. X

Thanks ladies this puts my mind at rest! Weighed him today and he's 16.13 so going to ring my hv and see if that's on track!

Xx

You can see that in your red book...

But honestly I wouldn't worry or give some more water in between in case it's thirst..

My son's have all been little pigs when it came to their milk. I used to worry that I was feeding them too much and too often but most of the time I think it used to coincide with a growth spurt. As long as your little one is happy and gaining weight nicely I'd say you're doing a good job :)
