i've got my 20 week scan on monday & i really want to be able to tell the gender! are there any things you can do to kinda encourage baby to move around?
i've heard eating before hand & having a sugary drink, anything else? :)

They probably won't want baby moving around too much if they have to do measurements.

The scan will take a good 15mins and they'll push a lot harder than they do on your 11week scan...trust me...hubby says my eyes were like this  lol

I drank a bit of fluid but Hazel's right, they don't really want 'em moving too much or they can't take the measurements. I quick walk down to the hopsital newsagents and back moved our lil bubby when he was lying on his back so she couldn't measure his spine lol

I work in scan and the sonographer will try all they can to find out for you. If all else fails and they have the time they will send you for a walk round the hospital and try again, and if they don't offer be cheeky and ask.

You know yourself when your baby moves the most (usually when you relax) sugary drinks don't make your baby move unfortunately so save your teeth

The best tip is not to overfill your bladder, you do need to drink before it but if your bursting for the loo your bladder is large and your baby will be squashed up in one place.

Good luck for your scan x x

drink cold water..
bounce on birthing ball,
eat just before you go in- that will make bubba wriggle around!

i had to have t bed tipped right back and be prodded around so they could tell the sex of my son! lol

I'd just let things be. Drink water and then relax. They need to be able to take lots of measurements at this scan so LO wriggling constantly won't help them

Besides, some babies are more active than others. Mine was a wriggler during his scan.

Sonographer will do all the measurements etc first usually and then focus on the gender if they offer it I think. Chances are by then from all the pressing and so on LO will be moving a bit anyways. Also sometimes babies just don't play ball and get into a decent position to see anything.
