Tom's not been himself all afternoon so I took his temperature and it is 38.6 in one ear and 36.9 in the other?????

What does that mean???

I've done it a couple of times and still the same result.

Any ideas?

sorry i can't help...

maybe you could ring NHS Direct for some advice hun x

How does he feel if you touch him? And, I would try the termometers on yourself. The which will show normal one probably worsk fine

Is he pawing at the hot ear?

If so, could be an ear infection, and the inflamation is giving you the high reading.

Call NHS24 if you're worried.

He's asleep now. Hadn't noticed him particularly pawing that ear but I will watch out for it.
We have one of those Braun Thermoscan thermometers. They're supposed to be really accurate...even my doctor has the same one. Really weird that I'm getting such a difference.
