Silly question I know, but who uses talc on babies and why? I was just wondering, it does smell nice but what's it's purpose and does it not dry their skin out? Thanks x

I don't cos Charley's skin's so sensitive! I don't really know what it's used for!

I know, I feel stupid but really don't understand it's purpose got a few tubs of it bought! I think maybe it helps to dry after baths maybe? But you don't want to dry their skin up! No I wouldn't use on Charlie of sensitive skIn x

I think talc is meant to help prevent rashes etc caused by wet nappies, but nappies are so absorbent now that I don't think talc is really needed. I also remember reading somewhere that as talc is so fine it can be inhaled in and can cause problems in young babies - not sure if thats true or just more over cautious recommendations!!

I have some talc - it smells lovely its that Johnsons bedtime stuff - but have only used it on tomos once, so I'm keeping the rest for myself :-) xxxx

Ow didn't know that marble star, more scarey stuff they want to make their minds up!! Good idea to use on self xx

Yeah after swimming I think it will be a god send as i'm sure it will help get clothes back on easier and keep little crevices nice and dry. xx

i use it after every bath for amelia it helps make all her creases nice and dry so stops her getting sore x

I don't use talc cos I'm allergic to it! I managed to grow up fine without talc and I'm sure my Eva will be fine without too.

my friend uses it on her babys arm pits and legs after bath time to stop clothes rubbing, i wanted to eat talc so badly when i was pregnant!

I wouldn't use talc, and especially on girls, research has shown that women have had talc deposits found on there ovaries etc, I suppose there are more openings for girls then boys, its also fine so can be inhaled easily

I bought talc cos I love the smell of babies covered in talc, but everything I've read about it puts me off! I will probably use it when Lizzie is a bit older :)

i got liquid talc from asda, it dries like powder but is like cream out the tube, i use it every now and then where the nappy sits

i didnt use talc at start as so many people said not to....... and now i use it every day lol and have done from 3 months or so..... it helps keep her skin nice and soft and means after a bath shes properly dried and smells lush!! :) tbh i do tend to sprinkle the top of her lady bits and not all over just incase lol sorry if tmi... i also love it in her creases where she is chubby as helps them..... i dont put under her chin either..... :) xxx

Ive never used talc, we're getting on just fine without it!

Thanks everyone - im thinking we can manage just fine without talc and use for after swimming! xx

I LOVE TALC!! For myself :D

i use it on Jack after his bath in his creases (including arm pits) and if i don't use it in his nappies he gets nappy rash so i sprinkle a tiny amount in the nappy.

I use ASDA little angels baby talc x

I use talc with ella after swimming and her baths to make sure she's dry, am careful not to use around her girly bits tho!

I have used it on Jack but his skin has gone well dry so had to cake him in vaseline today :eh:
