My boys soft spot on his head seems to be really sunken.

I know this is supposed to be dehydration but do i need to call a doctor?

Hey Flame
Me and my mum were talking about this only yesterday as Dan's was looking a little sunken. I gave him some water and seems to look a little better. Dans was only very slighly so I wasn't that concerned. Found this online that might help

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency ... 003309.htm

Isn't it gross how you can see their pulse through it ooohhhhh!

I cant say i have ever seen it pulsing

i paniced when alice was a week old with this (also she was covered in a rash and kept throwing up), but the doc said it was because she was dehydrated ( as Misslarue link shows).

It's not necessarily a sign of dehydration, every baby's soft spot is different, some look sunken all them time, some you can;t see at all.

If it suddenly looks different, I'd just make sure you give a drink, but if it generally looks a bit sunken, don't worry :)

It does honest. Unless Dan is weird!!

No, Tom's pulses too. It's WEIRD! Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

:rotfl: :rotfl: Thank goodness! I was starting to think something was wrong!
My OH noticed it a few weeks back and for ages I couldn't stop looking at it. Its really freaky! It is ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww! lol

i was worried about christophers soft spot as it very often appears sunken slightly and it pulses quite often i discussed it with the HV who told me that all babies were different and to look out for when its different when dehydrated not only does the soft spot look sunken but so do the eyes and the body tries to hold onto any fluid it does get so nappies are less wet and baby would be miserable and lethargic
if your at all worried hun contact HV or doctors xxxxxxx

I saw it pulsate!!!! how weird!!!!

I went to the drs with him yesterday cause he seems to be constantly straining and was told he was constipated even though he has done a couple of runny nappies :? Confuzzed.

Does it pulsate? is his mouth dry? is he alert? wet nappies?

It doesn't always mean they're dehydrated. Harrys soft spot is constantly a lil sunken but he's having wet nappies, he's wide awake etc... as long as your baby is having wee's and is alert then he/she is ok

It does pulsate, his mouth is ok and he is asleep at the mo but alert when awake, and has plenty of weeeees.

he is ok then. so long as he is drinking and wetting his nappies then its fine.
