Strange pain

Twice in the night I have woken in real severe pain which starts in my stomach (high up where your actual stomach is, not the belly) and it spreads all across my chest and I can feel it through to the back, so I can feel it in the same place on my back.

It is a bit hard to describe!

It feels a bit like indigestion and it really really hurts! I'm not sure if it is indigestion though as you'd normally get it after eating and I get this literally in the middle of the night?

The first time I had it my hubby told me to get dressed and he was going to take me to A&E as he was worried it was my heart. I stood and it went away mostly so I went back to bed, then it came back so I got up again and it went again, when I went back to bed the second time it didn't come back and I was fine after that.

The second time I had it I tried sitting up in bed but it didn't improve so I got up and it took a few minutes but it did go, I went back to bed and it was ok.

I've never had it happen during the day.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? What could be causing it?

I had this in hospital and they panicked thinking it was PE (pulmonary embolism ) as was worse when I breathed in. It turned out to be musculoskeletal pain. I think I was so tense during op I strained all my muscles on one side. Diaphragm can also get bruised during a c section.
So, I'd get it checked to rule out anything serious but could you have strained your diaphragm somehow?! Or how you lie is causing it to cramp?! Could be indigestion, see if coughing helps ease it?!

I had exactly this a few years ago when I was on holiday, it was a horrible strange feeling. My hubby took me to a&e and they gave me some great pain killers and something else and said it was indigestion. I thought I was going to die lol. Xx

This will sound daft but it could be trapped wind. People sometimes go to a and e with it thinking its something else lol x
