Now Keeley is 9 months do you think i could stop sterliserin her food bowls and spoons....?

I wil still sterlise her bottles and dummies :D

It says in most books I have read that you can stop sterilising all together at 6 months but I still sterilise Jakes dummies and bottles. I don't sterilise his bowls or spoons I just just wash them as normal. I'm not worried as I'm sure soon he will be putting worse things than unsterilised spoons in his mouth.

 Ive never really sterilized anything, apart from when I expressed ages ago, but never have with her spoon and bowl.

Can u use just tapwater at 6 months, in juice?

Sorry im crashing your thread

I found this information. One says 6 months and one says 12 months is ok to stop using boiled water. I still use cooled boiled water for Jake and I will until he is 1.

i think once you start putting them on the floor to sit and crawl theres no point in sterilising any more but i would still be careful with bottles that have had milk in them and continue to sterilise them till 1 year but thats probably just me being over cautious :D xxxxxxx

I only sterilized bottles and dummies anyway. I have never done spoons, bowls or beakers I just give then a good wash.

 only joking

I dunno about the tap water i don't think i would use tap water which hasn't been boiled :)

I haven't been steralising anything from 6 months, everything goes in his mouth now anyways and its better for their immune system to build up a wall against bacteria etc... - Sorry OH's Dad works in all that kind of stuff and reminds me time and time again

Tasha, Yes you can use tap water straight from the tap from 6 months, thats what we use for Harrison now days

Ok thank you ladies :D

Oli puts lots in her mouth so I think ill just give her tap water and see how she goes, I suppose it just prefrence as to what you all like to do, but as I dont sterilize anything anyway or use bottles, id just rather use it straight from the tap :)

Nic, I only sterilize Gabs bottles as I am worried about bacteria from the milk but I don;t sterilize her spoons or bowls.

I am still using cooled boiled water too :D

i never sterilized anything for any of all my 4 children.i feel that it's good to get them used to everyday germs from a young age,to help their immune system, but that's just my opinion. it's a bit different this time, because jamie was exclusivley breastfed up to him being around 3 months old. but when i started him on the bottle (he has both formula & breast now)i never sterilised, just gave the bottles and teasts a really good was, and rinsed them with tap water. my other 3 weren't breastfed for long, (about 3 weeks) and i never sterilised bottles or dummies then either. i think it's mainly your choice whether you feel ready/comfortable to stop sterilising,as someone said in an earlier post, babies tend to put almost anything in their mouths, so it does seem to be defeating the object of sterilising!! whatever desicion you make, i am sure it will be the right one..mothers instict and all that!!LOL.

I think i am still gonna use boiled water but i'm not gonna sterlise bowls and spoons anymore... I know there not dirty but i worry about germs

I am still gonna sterlise her bottles and dummies tho :D
Thanks for all the advice ladies

Ditto. I have only ever sterilized bottles and dummies. Never Sterilized spoons, bowls etc. Now Elora is 6 months I am going to carry on sterilizing bottles and dummies until shes about 8/9 months. Same as what I did for my son.

I dont think theres a right or wrong age to stop when you get past the 6 months mark is there?
