Sperm swims at what pace?

Maybe an odd question... When you DTD and sperm enters... How long does it take to get where it is supposed to ?

I know it depends where egg is at that time etc - but approx ? Does it take minutes or hours or days ??

About 2 hours if I remember correctly!

I think, that it takes a few hours to reach the top of the fallopian tube, but dont quote me on that. I will check

I found something on google which said anything from 45mins to 12 hours!!

This shocked me! Such a massive difference and not much help...sorry!

Just to add into the mix that sperm survive for varying amount of time too... without the right kind of cm they can all be dead within a couple of hours... in absolutely ideal conditions - right consistency & ph of cm then you might get a few days, but I gather that's more of an exception not a rule.

Also it will depend on where the egg is.... Sometimes it might be right there waiting so the sperm don't have to do too much!

Yes 8 - 10 hours for sperm to be capable of penetrating the egg, that's why it's so important to have the sperm there and waiting prior to ovulation and why having sex 2 days prior to ov actually results in more pregnancies than the day of ov!
