Just back from the Dr and I've got SPD and sciatic compression. He's referred me for physio and I've got the earliest appointment on the 21st. In the meantime is there anything I can do to try and stop this pain getting worse? I can't turn over in bed, or get on/off the toilet without shouting out in pain. I've got a 16 month old so I'm sure lifting him about the place doesn't help but I can't avoid that!

Also does anyone know if this affects the type of labor you're allowed? I'm hoping for a home or birthing centre birth but worried I'll end up in delivery suite again :(

You need to avoid anything that makes it worse as far as possible. Double tubi grip in size L has been better than all the braces I've tried. You can get it on amazon quite cheaply. Get your OH to do as much as possible and start teaching your LO that you can't lift them. Jess is quite good now and at 20months she is happy to hold my hand or sit on my lap for cuddles. Of course you have to lift occasionally but the less the better.
It is bloody hard!

I second avoiding lifting LO where possible - maybe take them over to sofa or a chair and lift them that way. I found this was the only way I could safely lift ds1. Put a pillow between your legs when lying down if you don’t already.

The only thing I can recall that you need to avoid in labour is stirrups. You need to make delivery mws aware you have these problems as they should avoid putting you on your back. Squat or standing labours are your most comfortable option. Other than that, it shouldn't affect where you birth.
