I think I might have SPD due to the fact I can not stand on one leg without it hurting and moving over in bed, its really beginging to get me down, I am unsure who I tell I am at the midwifes next monday do I wait till then or go see my doctor?

Its hurting, has anyone got advise?

xx

Hey hun,

I suffer from it and its horrible.

Tell ur midwife although there isnt much they can do. They can refer u for physio.

Try keep ur legs together (ie. when getting in and out the car)

Also no long car journeys and dnt walk too far.

Stock up on paracetamol is what i was told :( xxx

When mine first started I went to my GP who refered me to Physio and the midwifes would have done just the same I think.

Keep you legs together as much as possible, Physio also gave me a great belt that holds my pelvis together.

Im lucky mine has eased off a great deal since I stopped work, and not even wearing the belt now !

My MW sent me to the physio for mine. I only went once but she was very helpful and told me to get a silk sheet (or silky sleeping bag) and sleep on that as it helps you move when you're in bed because you can slide more instead of having to shuffle. It sounds silly but it was the best thing I did. Took about 2 nights before I got relief.

Also sit down to put on socks/knickers/trousers etc.

Hope it gets better for you

I've mentioned it twice to the midwives but they just kinda nodded like it was normal and something to expect while pregnant. If it gets much worse, I think I'll go to the doctor.

As the others have said, it can help to walk slowly, keep your legs together and be careful whilst turning over in bed. I also find a lot of padding at night-time helps. Cushions and pillows galore!

Dunno if I should admit this  But last night my husband strapped me up with pillows (imagine a kinda saddle bag arrangement) using my dressing gown cord and I managed to get a fair few hours sleep like that. The things we do... :D

Thanks for all the advise ladies

I have got some painkillers and I am going to try a few things for when I am in bed because this is the worse time, I have to wake OH up and say turn me over please :rotfl:

Thanks again

My mum had it and was given crutches to help her get around.

She was also in group physiotherapy and given a support band!

xx
