Anyone know what this is? I thought I might not have dried the back of her legs properly after bathing but have made sure I have for the past week and left her legs out to air but it's not getting better, hasn't got worse though. It's on the back of both legs. Do you think it's eczma? The rest of her legs are quite dry and bobbly but not red like the back of her kness. I've been moisturising them twice a day.

Looks like Excema or a sweat rash, more like excema if its been there a few days.

It looks like it could be eczema luv....I'd pop her to your drop in clinic and get some emolient cream and bath stuff. Mhairi had this and it only lasted about a month and now she has boooootiful skin!

Galen has this. Its eczema and then because its in places like the back of his knee it gets hot and sweaty also so can get sore and skin can open. Best thing is to see your HV or GP and get some emolient like Diprobase.

For Galen we now use Diprobath every 3rd day in his bath (we don't bath him in between as it makes his skin worse, even with plain water, dries it out), Diprobase ointment on the worst patches and then all over with Diprobase cream. We do this twice a day, morning and evening. Plus for behind his knees and a few other places we had to use a small dose of steroid cream to help it. It flares up now and again but is under control for the most part.

I've left a message for the HV to call me back. Doc gave me some aqueous cream a few weeks ago for her face but she had a reaction to it so haven't used it again.

O other things to do.

Make sure she only wears cotton and something loose fitting on aggrivated areas. Same with sleepsuits etc at night. Loose fitting ones, nothing snug as this makes for more hot and sweaty and can disturb them when sleeping (iagine having a rash that itches and not being able to scratch it - babies can suffer even when their rash is mild). I tend to leave Galen in sleepsuits on days when his is bad. Easiest to keep rubbing cream in also

Also cooler rather than warmer temp wise. I don't mean cold rooms, but don't overheat them so they get stuffy and hot. Again irritating for skin.

yeah im pretty sure that is ezcema.

i have it, (though so far not had a flare up since i was pregnant with oliver).

Benjamin has it. pretty bad at the moment, can't seem to get it under control atm, but im gonna work on it.

oliver has it too, so I[m thinking it will just be a matter of time until amelia gets it too :(

i dont bath mine that much, i tend to just wipe them down and bath them just twice a week with diprobath stuff in the bath.

we have so much soap and bath bubbles we've been bought for them, but we hardly ever use them cause they just cause problems with their skin :(

as a treat i let them have the foam soap that they spray on each other.

for the main part i just use johnsons for them all, with that in the bath.

and last time i took benjamin about his ezcema we got a moisturiser on prescription called aveeno. its the best one ive found. made fo natural colloidal oatmeal. i even use it myself!

I only dress her sleepsuits, trousers are to fiddly and tops ride up, I like an easy life.

HV rang back and said to try sudocream on it and air her legs out more for a couple of days and if it doesn't improve then to ring doc and get them to look at it. I've been putting blankets on her recently at home as got cold so maybe there's not been enough air circulation around her legs, also haven't been doing as much nappy off time as don't want her to get a chilly bum so she usually has her legs free then  , I think it's eczma and it's been agravated wrapping her up warm.

I find Sudocrem not great for clearing up baby eczema tbh. I'd not put that on Galen when his skin flares up. Its a barrier cream and while it can help healing irritated skin I don't really like it.

You can get Diprobase cream in small tubes over the counter in chemists. I'd go see your GP sooner rather than later as in the pic it looks like its bordering wet eczema which can get really sore if not treated. Dry eczema will need cream also but wet eczema can get icky. Diprobase or something like that should clear it up.
