so...what happens now?!

hi girls

right, so i got my bfp this morning ....argh yet woohoo!!.... and i've no clue as to what happens now. I've known people who are pregnant but i've absolutely no idea what i'm supposed to do or what comes next.

Is it too soon to make an appointment with my GP? Do i see my GP or is it someone else? When do they start scanning you?

It's all rather daunting.

(please excuse my total ignorance...people off ttc will know i'm useless!!)

Firstly, welcome Hannah and congratulations!

You'll have to ring your doctors and make an appointment. All that happened at mine was they gave me folic acid tablets to take, though I am guessing that as you are from TTC, you will have been taking them anyway? The doc will contact the midwife team for you and then you will probably have to make an appointment with her. Then the midwife will arrange 12 week scan

you do need to see your dr so it can be put on your med records they will then either give you the miwifes number to arange to see her yourself or they will arange that for you,
you should get a dating scan around 12 weeks to check dates and growth ect, when you see your midwife she will let you know how othen she wants to see you ect and when you need to have bloods and things taken

Just phoned GP and she's got all my details to give to midwife. I'm already taking folic acid, I started them at the beginning of this cycle. They've done my rubella and that's all ok too.

Is the 12 wk scan from now or from when your last cycle began?

12 weeks is counted from the date of your LMP. When you go for the scan they very rarely agree with you on dates!

i can almost pinpoint the exact date i charted so much this month!!!

We were talking about the dates last night. It's been practically a textbook conception and so know when I conceived. We were saying it will be interesting to see what happens this time as the last 2 dating scans have put me back in both pregnancies. We KNOW when this baby was conceived!
