Just thought I'd say that I've been close to giving up bf but haven't and really aim to get to 6 months.

I'm so pleased I haven't...Gabriella's had a few formula bottles but generally just bf.

Hope this gives more milk mummies motivation to continue through the tougher times x

Thank you :) it is a little challenging sometimes!

I totally agree with OMG!! I had a super tough time breastfeeding to start. It was not until 8-10 weeks that all issues cleared up completely. We had the lot: poor latching, baby loosing weight, excruciatingly sore nipples, low milk supply, sleepy baby at every feed, thrush, you name it!!

Out of sheer stubbornness, and because feeding that little baby was my sole purpose in life, I pushed through the pain, the doubters, the sleepless nights feeding and pumping every 3 hours 8 times a day....

I can say that today I absolutely love the intimacy of my baby and I during a feed. And I'm thankful that I have managed to raise such a happy, healthy and strong 4 month old thanks to dogged determination!

Stick at it mamas! It's incredible that something supposed to be so natural, is so tough and difficult to master. But you'll get there!

And can I add, my OH is not supportive, at all. Hates breastfeeding but sod him!

My baby is still pretty little...getting her weighed next week but I'd say no more than 9lbs. But, my eldest was too and I combi fed her at this stage.

Makes me regret giving up with DD2. Although I did go to work so was tricky I Thiught I didn't have enough milk and she was too hungry, why did nobody tell me it's NORMAL for them to want the boon 24/7 at 2 weeks?!

It is definitely worth it in the long run :-) I wish that the NHS would put more funding to better breast feeding training for MWs and HVs as knowledgeable support is so vital for helping mums get through the tough bits. I was lucky that mine were very supportive, but I still had to go to an NCT clinic to get additional support from a specialist bf counsellor.
