Just wondering if anyone has been for a smear test after giving birth? Was everything ok when you got results back? They say to wait 12 weeks after birth to have one done. I'm going for one next week. I haven't had one since 2008, I hate these things, but they got to be done . I'm just nervous as I haven't had one for 4 yrs now! Xx

I had mine done 3 months after birth, came back fine. Not pleasant but quick, I booked it together with LOs jabs so had to go lol

Ive never had one and bricking it xx

I've never had one either, was pregnant with my angel baby when I turned 25 and was asked to go in, then I got pregnant with Harry, I suppose I should try and get one booked up for when he is 3 months old. X

If you ask and say you're still sore down there, they will use a speculum designed for virgins. I had this and it wasn't painful at all xx

Oh I'm def going to ask for that. Im still a tad tender down there evn tho I had a c sec x

I tend to use the 'virgin' speculum, which just means small, on all ladies routinely now, unless when I get in there I need a longer one. If the lady is large, I might start with a medium to avoid her inevitably having to have two speculums inserted.

Smear tests are much better these days, with the availability of the different sized plastic speculums, rather than the horrible old metal ones. Other than that it's down to the skill of the nurse, and the position of your cervix ie how easy it is to locate, as to how uncomfortable it is. Most ladies find it OK, and generally ladies who have had babies laugh and say it is a breeze!

I had mine done at 12 weeks , was a lil more uncomfy than pre pg one, but she was quick and was able to check I was all healed so nice to know that. I haven't heard anything so assume I'm ok lol

Kayelle - you should hear one way or the other by letter, in my region this is done by the cervical screening service directly and I would imagine that's a UK wide thing. Don't assume, chase it up via your GP practice.

I had mine done when LO was about 16 weeks (I had to miss my turn from when I was PG) and I had had 2 done previously. It was sore but over v quickly. Just try to think past it hun, a few minutes and it'll all be over xxx

I had mine done last week (20weeks post birth) and had results this week that all is fine
