Sleepy....soooooo sleepy!

Lexi has been feeding lots the last couple days and I am much happier with bf this time. My milk has finally made an appearance this morning and Omg talk about engorged.

My struggle is that she is so sleepy!! If I didn't wake her she wouldn't be fussed about feeding often at all. She naturally wakes around every four to five hours but even then she falls asleep on the boob after five or so mins.

any tips? I've tried undressing her to keep her awake. I've started changing her nappy before to wake her fully.

I was always told to either tickle their feet or rub their head- both are meant to stimulate them to wake up!!

Strip her to just a nappy, tickle back of her neck, stroke her arm. The best test to.see if she had enough is when she unlatches herself, lift her arm and let if fall. If its limp and falls, she is milkd drunk and had enough. It does gey easier as they become more alert. Try nappy change half way through the feed. Is she taking one breast or are you offering second one?

when i can wake her enough to latch her on she's pretty done after one and won't take second breast.

i struggle to wake her even just to get her on. she's sleep all day if i let her lol.

The advice i was given is to wake every 3 hours at least in the early days(during the day), i.had to wake A every 2 as he didnt eat enough and developed jaundice.
I would persevere with 3 hours at least for now, one breast might be enough for her, how long is she feeding for approx? Main thing is she gets hind milk which is rich. When is she gerting weighed? Do they come out to you? xxx

Flynn is the same, he only feeds for 5-10 mins off one boob, then that's it til the next feed. He is gaining weight and has plenty of wet and dirty nappies so I'm happy and so are the midwives.

Does Lexi have plenty of wet/dirty nappies? Has she been weighed yet? If her gain is fine then I'd just carry on as you are. Maybe try feeding then when she drops off change her and put her back on?

when she feeds she is on for at least half an hour. she seems satisfied its waking her for the next feed that's the struggle. Xx

Sounds good re feeding time, if she is.having plenty nappies, she is.probably fine. Maybe mummy's milk is so.good she is satisfied for longer.
I had supply problems so.completely different story.

my milk has only come in today. she's being weighed this afternoon!

hmm... just need to try and get her to wake up easier.
