My nephew is six months old. he was five weeks prem.
Since he was born he has not liked eating. He would only eat a couple of ounces at a time and he cries lots.Never seemes relaxed
My sil has been to doctors repeatedly about his weight but they keep fobbing her off.
She has changed his milk a couple of time but she thinks he may not like milk. Now he is older he has begun to eat solids (he only like fruit).
My sil went to health visitor today to have him wieghed. He has been doing so much better. They have been on holiday so he has not been weighed for a while ( 3 weeks). My Nephew has lost 10 ounces and gained nothing in that time.
The heath visitor is worried and sent my sil and nephew to the gp there and then.
My nephew is now being referred to a specialist. He is 6 months old and wieghs 12 pounds. My sil is distraught. :(
Why do specialists not listen to mothers when they say something is wrong.........
Has anyone had an experience like this? What could make a baby not want to eat? And now he is eating solids why is he not gaining wieght?

Sorry for so many questions but i'm so worried about him.

I saw the piedatrician about D differnet reasons just don't be fobbed off go with what she knows to be the facts...If he likes fruit maybe try avacardo's as they are quite high in claories..maybe mix some milk in if he isn't drinking much bananas are good for that...Also D prefers things in jars except fruit to homecooked food so might be worth a try.

Is he active? Even though Austin is now on solids he hasn't put on much weight recently because he's started crawling and NEVER stops moving. He weighs 16lb but was a week overdue and 8lb 6oz at birth so likely started on a higher centile than your nephew.

I find that Austin doesn't like feeding much, he rarely asks for milk during the day, and then it's a struggle to get him to concentrate for long enough for a decent feed.

Hopefully the specialist will work out if anything's wrong, in the meantime try not to worry too much. Some babies are just naturally small.

Really hope everythings ok with him! Can I just say though Aimee only weighed about 14lb at that age and she was 2 weeks over due and was 8lb 11oz born so it probally works out the same. Aimee is absolutly fine she just doesn't eat much. :D

oh bless him if he's only eating friut he will lose weight poor little thing thats what we eat to lose weight theres no fat, and also his milk intake will have decreased so less calories, has she tried carbs?? rusks and babyrice mixed with milk are a good meal, bless him
