Hi girls.
just wondering when to expect my LO to be able to sit by him self? did u help him sit up or do they sit up by themselves LOL I know Im mad i honestly don't know.
last question when do they start to roll on their sides? my LO is about 2 months and a half. but he's a bit on the heavy side .

With the rolling - mine have varied between 4 - 6 months and between 5 and 7 months for sitting. we had a circular baby thing (cant remember what its called) its like a rubber ring and the baby was put in the middle.

edit to say - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... 199840.htm

thats wot i mean, i'm not going mad honest :fib: :fib:

thomas can sit up for a few minutes about 5 alone without suport and can nearly pull himself up
but he cant roll over yet not even close :?
xx

Ryan Roll's on his side and is getting stronger with the sitting up but i think hes a bit lazy to be honest lol

Becky has been able to roll onto her side from quite early on and can roll onto her tummy but seeing as she hates being on her tummy she doesn't do it very often. As of last week she can now roll from front to back so even if I put her on her tummy she's on her back in no time at all :rotfl:

She can sit up with someone holding her at the hips/waist but doesn't have the balance to go it alone. She much prefers this position to anything else now and it can get a bit tiring!

thanks girls, I guess it's too early then to expect these things . but it's interesting as he starts to learn few baby words :) yaah and aga and ago LOL.

rolled back to front at 5 months proper ( had few time previous but at 5 months no problems doing it ) and sat unaided at 6 months :D

Finn began rolling the day before he turned 4 months. He was able to sit up unaided at 6/7 months and is now only beginning to be able to get himself up into a sitting position from lying - if there is something for him to lean against.

Galen has been rolling from back to side/front for a little while now. He first rolled around 14 weeks.

Sitting up he has done with help for a few weeks now. He hates reclining in his bouncer and only wants to sit upright and lean forward to play with toys or something. He manages with us gently holding him round his tummy. Sometimes we only hold his hands and he sits and looks round. He's really strong and has a firm grip :) He loves to sit on the sofa also now :)

We borrowed a Bumbo seat but tbh its not really for him. He tries to lean out and over and almost launches himself over the side

He just wants to be doing stuff and lying down is boring to him now. He is constantly trying to sit forward when lying down. Its funny to watch his head and shoulders come up and his legs and feet also. Mind you it won't be long and he'll have sussed it.

All babies are different and I realise Galen is earlier than some with these things. Your LO will go at his own pace. Don't do it for him though. He'll learn/try things when he is ready. Also he won't do stuff if he isn't strong enough to, so don't push things. Encourage him when he tries things :)

James rolled over at almost 5 months and still needed a bit of support to sit at 6 months.

Logan hasn't rolled over yet, I think he just cant be bothered

LO is the same!!! Even more she hates sitting 'back' in the car seat. She keeps trying to lean forward and ends up falling asleep crouching - a position which looks very awfward :rotfl:

She has only rolled from back to front twice but regretted so much as wasn't able to roll back to her back so hasn't done it again :rotfl:

Ky started rolling onto his front at about 5.5months. He started sitting at just over 6months but it would be for seconds or until he lost concentration. I noticed a big improvement at 7 months so i always sat him up to play to help him practice but he'd always fall over eventually! Hes a week and a bit off 8 months and i still put cushions behind him now just in case.

Maia cant do either yet she hates been on her tummy so we have very little tummy time about 5-10 minutes a day when she's in a good mood otherwise 2 minutes before she gets hysterical :x

She loves sitting up on the sofa though like a big person and can sit up unaided for a minute or so before wobbling like a weeble :)

I think this is a good development guide on what to expect each month

Anjali is 5 months. She can sit up for a few minutes unaided on my lap, but not on a completely flat surface. She cant roll either way but she can support herself for ages on her hands when lying on her front. i dont think she'll bother with rolling, i reckon she'll go straight to crawling :)
