My LO seems to be a bit shy on occasion. Last weekend a man said hello to him in a shop whilst I was holding him, and LO buried his face into my neck and nearly started crying. However, during the week we were in the co-op and LO was in his buggy and a different bloke started talking to him and playing with his feet and LO loved it! Was smiling and laughing.
Today, we went for lunch with one of my friends who LO hasn't seen for a while. My friend got in the car turned round and said hello to LO, and LO burst in to tears. Every time my friend turned round and looked at him in the car LO cried again!
When we got to the restaurant, LO was clinging on to me for dear life. He calmed down and then was all smiles at my friend.
I don't know what to do to over come this. I take him to 3 groups a week so he's around other adults and babies a lot.
Any suggestions to help him relax a bit more round people he doesn't know very well or strangers would be gratefully received.

It sounds a bit symptomatic of separation anxiety to me- was reading about it recently! Ethan has been a bit like this recently too (although I know he is a fair bit younger) Think all u can do us keep going to groups etc and reassuring LO that they r ok and u r there. Sometimes I think they can get more shy when they r going thru a big developmental phase and it will pass in time. Sorry I have v limited experience but thought I'd share what I've read xx

Maybe on those occasions he was just feeling a little insecure?
