saw the HV this week and openly told her we had started solids earlier than we wanted but felt it was for the best.

Asked her if we could go from Baby rice to a vegtable and she said.....

You are his mother and you know your baby best.

Well i was so shocked i didn't know they were allowed to say things like that!! :D

Sounds like fab advice from her. Its true though. Only you know your baby and when to try things.

My HV just butts in and tells me what to do

Sorry if what im about to say is disliked but, I actually agree with your HV! There are sooooo many HV's out there that tell you what you should and shouldnt do and expect you to have a text book baby when we all know that every baby is differen, I believe to a degree that mummy does knows whats best for her baby. Certain advise from HV is golden and there are times when us mummy's really apreciate it and other times we dont. I dont think she would have been so relaxed about it if she really really thought there was going to be problems.

xx

You might think it's shocking but I think she's got it spot on! :D

oh its advice i follow, i was just shocked she didn't quote "the latest government research" at me, that's why i posted as many HVs seem to do.

thats so refreshing and so true!!

also there way of saying you make your own mistakes i guess, so they can't be accountable for them. but she sounds very nice and very sensible - lucky you x

well done your HV im so sick of all the the latest research say c***
and yes you know whats best for your child
I started giving Collier some baby rice then porridge ive tried him on a few jars (we are going to make our own food up havnt got the facilites yet will do soon) he LOVES them all :D and in a few weeks will try BLW
i KNOW MY son and he needed something more hes a very active baby mentaly and physicaly i think ive done the right thing for my child so the qouted research and servays and goverment guidelines can go take a long walk of a short peer
